As a battle weary veteran of marriage, dating and what life bring about. I can say with conviction that no real man wants to take on a ready made family.

The Cuban guy in blue shirt might like the idea but it might be his cultural upbringing or something. If you want kids make your own don't wait for the village stud to do it for youlaugh

Hummmm...only just a thought..not talking to anyone...
But my oldest son's father died at age36.
My other son's father was a beater and a cheater.
..
Hummmm.just thinking...out loud...
I work my 40 every week..I pay my bills and support
My two boys..with no state assistance.

It is hard sometimes..stressful.. to say the least.
But I don't regret it..even if it means doing it alone.

Life is so short and precious..

Just a ramble....

Everyone's entitled to their choices and preferences. But to say no real man wants a "ready made family"? That is a generalization, and quite untrue. YOU don't want to date a woman with kids, and that's fine. But real men come in all shapes, sizes, and with preferences of their own. Know yourself and let others do the same.

no, your choice to avoid this situation does not make you a selfish sob, but your chastising and passing judgement on other people's choices is make you look like a bitter fool.

My last relationship was with a single mother who had two kids. One fully grown and the other almost a teenager. So yay?

I am most certainly NOT bitter about my kids. They are a blessing I am thankful for every single day. You know diddly about me.
Unfortunately you are an open book of assinine comments about "real men" when it is abudently obvious you are not one.
Again I say, Thank Goddess you didn't breed.

I find it funny how the OP .... posts a topic to incite opposing opinions and then projects his own opinions/biases on others.

Well, what about us single dads? Are we "off limits" too?

You are not human...

I dare you to tell my step-dad he's not a 'real-man' to his face btw he's 6'3 and about 260lb of solid muscle(he's been welding since he was 14) and i've seen him once pick up a horse trailer when the Jack broke....I wish you luck.

Granted single-mom's aren't for everyone, and every story is different, but saying someone is not a real man for taking on another man's family is not only offensive it's ludicrous

I have a lot of respect for my step-dad because honestly I don't think i could have been as strong(I now have 5 brothers, and 4 sisters) only 2 of which are my step-dads....

I don't rule single-mom's out, but it would depend on an individuals particular circumstances and attitude about it as well.

P.S if there were more REAL men in the world....there wouldn't be as many(very few in fact) single mom's...something to think about.

The internet macho men step up to the plate. Listen fellows put your signature on that marriage certificate and prove how macho you are to all. Plenty of single moms to pick from.

Here are the hot spots for single moms:
Washington, D.C. had the highest percentage of women with a birth in the previous year who were unmarried (51 percent), followed closely by Louisiana (49 percent), Mississippi (48 percent) and New Mexico (48 percent). The states with the lowest percentages were Utah (15 percent) and New Hampshire (20 percent).

The metro areas with the highest rates of births to unmarried women were Flagstaff, Ariz. (74.6 percent); Greenville, N.C. (69.4 percent); Lima, Ohio (67.5 percent); Myrtle Beach-North Myrtle Beach-Conway, S.C. (67.4 percent); Danville, Va. (67.3 percent). At the other end of the spectrum were Provo-Orem, Utah (8.2 percent); Kennewick-Pasco-Richland, Wash.(12.2 percent); Bremerton-Silverdale, Wash. (12.5 percent); and Lake Havasu City-Kingman, Ariz. (12.7 percent).

Of course there are many single-mom's out there, because there are not enough REAL men willing to stand by their FAMILIES that THEY helped CREATE.

A REAL man, should stay by the children he created, then their wouldn't be many single moms now would there.....

Nothing to do with being "macho" because "macho" isn't my definition of a real-man, a REAL man stands by his character, and his values, and he UNDERSTANDS that other REAL man stand by their Character and values(even if they are different from his own), and they have mutual respect for one another, but someone who doesn't feel like a REAL man, may have to start insulting other REAL man so he feels better about himself...

A REAL man doesn't stoop to insulting other men, even though he may be clearly better than the men around him...i highly doubt Brad Pitt goes around telling others that they aren't as good looking or rich as he is, he doesn't have too...the other men already know it, and he knows they know it without having to say anything.

And that is admirable honestly, you knew what worked for you and chose to live by that standard. That is what works for you, there is no double-talk at all.

I'm not going to fault another man for choosing to be with a single-mom either, i'm very grateful my step-dad chose to be with a single-mom and raise all of us, and i've never dream of insulting someone that chooses to do the same.

It may not be for me, and it's obviously not for you either. But i am grateful that there ARE men out their who will do it, and i have nothing but respect for them. The same way I have respect for police-officers, while i may not want their job, i respect their profession, one doesn't have to 'be something' in order to have respect for those doing it.

for people who cannot be around children, I can see how it would be very frustrating. I can see how it would make someone bitter and angry too. its a legitimate concern and barrier.

Barrier Is a Perfect Word...
Thank God For Small Favors...
