Lol.. not just getting old but everything that comes along with it..
.. I have a senior that lives down the road from me... very friendly very cordial person. . likes to talk a lot..lol. ... everytime I Drive past his house in the winter time.. he's out there relentlessly clearing his sidewalks.. . immaculately.. not a snowflake to be found..... it takes him all day however.. .. it's like his retirement job..lol... ... all day throughout the day.. he slowly plugs away at it.... I admire his attention to detail... but at the same time it saddens me.... is this my future..... ... are you ready for retirement.? |

I'll retire when I'm 60 and my young son is 18 and my oldest 41, but the company I leave will be split between them and any other kids I might have evenly, but I will still be keeping my eye on things, to keep them right!

. you have all these grandioso retirement plans.. travel to that far away place you have never being.. .. renovate your home.. ... Are like myself build a quaint house out in the country.. .... time together out in the garden. ... growing old together.. . but then you divorce or separate.. .. some of those plans just go out the window.... ... now the thoughts of being alone.. .. during those few last golden years.. ... shake you awake at night..hmm . |

Retirement can be wonderful.
I never lose the urge to work though, was offered another job this week...SO hard to turn down :-( Many cannot hack the lack of activity. Others exchange old habits for new ones. Sooner or later you will say to yourself daily, 'where did the time go?' And you will wonder how you ever fit work in, too :-) And it is the best time to share, with someone you love. No getting around that. |

yes... it's nice to think your children will be there for you.. but they grow old have families of their own.. get too busy for mom or dad....
now you find yourself wandering around your local shopping mall with all the other seniors..... .... or getting all your grocery shopping done before noon.... better known as nap time...lol |

I will never live a life like that...for me its full throttle & excitement & living life all the way ahhh what a lovely notion - live you life full throttle as long as you can but all stages of life will be yours to taste. Your body will come to a time when it just will not do what it used to do with ease. Growing old is the battle of adjustment and expectation. the lines are redrawn every day |

and if being alone.. and living with your aches and pains..
was not bad enough.. .. the financial reality.. . the cold hard facts.. . now.. you are surviving on one income... wait to you have no income.. .... myself I've always put money away.. .... but if you live long enough even that is not enough..... .. I would love to slap the person that called it your golden years....lol |

That is the hardest part. Being alone during those golden years. I still really work hard at forging new dreams. Agreed 110%   the forging new dreams part is just as difficult as the losing our "golden years partner". At least for me
