I haven't realised how much is documented on-line about this subject and even popular misconceptions that I've often held have been blown-away !

Apparently, the 300 Cubit length that is mentioned in the Bible is based on the same Egyptian Cubit of 20.6 Inches.

That means the Ark or more appropriately called Ocean-going Freighter was 515'ft. long, from its chiseled-bow to its rounded stern with deep-ocean-going stabilizers fixed at its stern.

******************************************************************************************************************************************

I once met an Elderly Man who was from Kurdistan, and mention the Ark of Noah in a very nonchalant manor.

Obviously, for the Kurdish People... Noah's Ark is common knowledge !

I thought I'd bump-up this old post from two weeks back for Moe's sake.

Remember Moe, 515 Ft. is more than the length of one and a half Foot Ball Fields from goal-post-to-goal-post !

thank you... i've read alot about this, but since turkey isn't letting anyone study this, it seems pretty pointless...

According to the Bible...

The ratio was 6 to 1 for length to beam.

You also have to keep in mind, I do believe I've mentioned this prior then this thread. But there wasn't as many animals then as there is now either. Meaning species wise, for example purposes say there are 500 different species of beasts in the world to this day. That would mean at that time there was only say roughly 250 different kinds of species. Due to evolution and or adaption through out the thousands of years or however old the word is "irrelevant to the discussion" till now. Along side they wouldn't be as populated in the world as they are in this day.

I'd argue that there being only 500 species on the planet is a little lean, even for my understanding of what potentially could have gone on-board.

ummm.. there is over 8.7 million different species of animals on the planet... sre you thinking that 8.7 million animals just appeared in the last 4000 years?

Say RockGnome...

Once You find-out just how well equipped this ocean-going freighter was... You'll realise Noah and his sons probably did some fishing, too !

Only response I'll give to this response

for example purposes say there are 500 different species

Those figures were for EXAMPLE purposes, there would be absolutely no possible way to know the population of the animals or any other at that time in question. Again, was JUST an example.

We might have 8.7 million 'Strains' of animals on the Earth, but we haven't got that many Species in the least.

Again, those figures were for example purposes explaining the population difference in animals and or even species of animals. Heck for all we know, there could have only been 100 different types of species at that time.

K, I'm done in this discussion. Forget I mentioned anything about the amount of animals. Was just again for example purposes as there would be absolutely no possible way to have physical evidence to show how many and what species were there. Good day sir.

yea, no... DNA shows us that that is wrong...evolution shows us that is wrong... common sense tells us that is wrong...

I can't recall the spelling of the name at the moment.
But, the story of Gilgamesh (sp?), is but one of many,
that document great floods occurring.

believe what you want, i won't lose any sleep... you don't want to check for yourself, just shows how religious people won't try science, they want to believe in myths...

floods happen all the time, but people must remember that people have a 13 mile view to the horizen from the earths curvature... to them, back then, the whole world was flooded when only a small portion was...
