It doesn't matter if I would or he would stay friends, what matters is after getting into a new relationship it wouldn't be respectful to the current boyfriend.

I get along with both exes, we can have a good conversation, a good laugh. But we're not friends. I'm not in touch with them outside of seeing each other for a reason.
With No1 that reason is kids. With No2 the reason is our annual gig and rehearsing. Which is happening at the mo, gig is the 30th. After that it's back to basically no contact. No need.

 Good point.
A man would never want his woman's ex in her life. Just like a woman wouldn't want her man's ex in his life.

Yeah, I guess I am friends. But it's easy to do, none live near me. Not even in the same state anymore. That said, regardless of why things ended, I don't like to burn bridges.

I think I just haven't dated enough to answer this question with any real insight.
I am widowed after 23 years of marriage and I only truly have one ex boyfriend and no I am no longer friends with him. He has a few exes-turned-friends and I just don't understand how that works. We were in love, lovers, partners, friends...then he decided he wanted me just as a friend. I can't do that....how can we be friends when you couldn't be my friend while we were lovers and partners?
...ok, I guess I HAVE answered! LOL

It depends on the people and on the breakups I guess. I would be able to communicate with any of them normally, have no bad feelings toward them, but some of them rather ignore: three of them hated women and thought they might express it on myself noway Only two I consider friends - because they never hurted me in any way and I know that if I would need anything they would do their best to help me - just as I would do, although I haven๏ฟฝt seen one of them for years  Well yes, I guess it is about people

Its easy for me because I live in a different state but it takes awhile before I can be friends again.

Not best friends but you can be civil around each other.

Friends with all the ex's but the last one. Unfortunately we work at the same place so its really hard to avoid each other.
I think you can stay friends as long as you respected each other during the relationship and after the relationship ended.

Can you be friend of your EX-LOVER?

Only if she is sober and unarmed ... meaning that it will never happen.

^ Oh, cause when you wrote unarmed, we all jumped to the conclusion that friendship and love could actually flourish. Thanks for clarifying there.

Don't bother whether I remain friends with them or not! At the end of the day they're my past and that's where they'll stay!

I can't really say I've stayed friends with my ex's; but we have been able to remain civilized acquaintances. To me, friends are people you can depend on and who are there for you and you are there for them whenever needed. So acquaintances with whom you are able to talk civilly to is more of an adequate description.

Like others have said, depends on the situation. As for normal...what is normal?
For me personally, I'm friends with a few of my exes but as for the most recent, you couldn't pay me to be friends with him...okay you could pay me but it would cost a lot for that.rofl
