‘HITLER WAS RIGHT’ POSTERS POPPING UP AT UK UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

by DONNA RACHEL EDMUNDS

A number of anti-Semitic posters have been plastered across the campus of Birmingham University, including one depicting Adolf Hitler emblazoned with the slogan “Hitler was Right”. The West Midlands Police are investigating

The posters were discovered by Students’ Guild Education Officer Izzy Lenga, who posted a photo to Twitter. She commented: “For those who don’t think antisemitism is a serious issue, these were plastered over campus on Tues”.

The poster, and others like it, have since been removed from campus by the police who are investigating the matter as a hate crime. They will be forensically investigating the posters, as well as examining CCTV footage and talking to students and staff in an attempt to track down the perpetrators.

The posters are part of a wider trend of increasing anti-Semitism which seems to be taking hold across the country. In Stamford Hill, London, police are investigating after graffiti saying “death to da jew” was found scrawled across a window ledge.

A spokesman from the Campaign Against Antisemitism said: “This is a worrying and disturbing thing to see at a British university at a time when the number of recorded antisemitic incidents is rising, and when Jewish people are actively being targeted and killed in Europe and beyond.

“We have heard from a Jewish student organisation that they’ve had students express their discomfort and alarm at seeing a poster of Hitler suggesting support for Nazism. The reaction of the police and university must be serious and tough in order to reassure Jews and non-Jews alike that this will not be tolerated. The perpetrators of his hate crime must be found and brought to justice with zero tolerance.”

Sergeant David Cotter from West Midlands Police told the Campaign Against Antisemitism: “We take reports of hate crime extremely seriously and are working closely with the university to make it a safe place for everyone who works and studies there. This kind of behaviour is offensive and completely unacceptable and our investigation to identify those responsible is already progressing.”

@izzyjengalenga We condemn racist graffiti, have reported it to the police and are working with them to identify and catch those involved.

— Uni of Birmingham (@unibirmingham) October 29, 2015

Deborah Walker, Head of Communications at the University of Birmingham said: “We unreservedly condemn racist graffiti on campus. We have reported the matter to West Midlands Police and are working with them to identify those involved.

“Our University is a community of 150 nations and we are proud to be situated in a vibrant multi-cultural city. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. We are therefore actively working with a range of groups to bring people together and ensure that our university is a place where diversity is celebrated and everyone plays their part in creating a vibrant and welcoming community.”

frustrated Why? Because history repeats itself & some idiots have learned nothing (of value) from it.
Including, how NOT to be.
Because every time there is a 'them', there is a 'you'

Ok, before I post a comment, and people flip out, let's be clear here. Hitler was a bad man. The Nazis were bad men. Killing 6 million Jews was heinous and attempting to dominate the world was a deadly aspiration that resulted in the deaths of millions more. Ok? Nazis bad.

NOW, the poster DOESN'T say anything about the above. The poster DOESN'T say kill anyone, beat anyone, tattoo numbers into their arms, or dominate the world. It literally has a picture of Hitler and the phrase 'Hitler Was Right'.

So, Hitler is universally regarded as the first modern politician to campaign for office using the airplane. At the time he was considered almost God-like for being able to appear in widely distant cities on the same day to give a speech.

He's considered to be the 'father' of the German highway system on which the U.S. 'interstate' highway system was modeled.

Approved manufacture of the volkswagen car.

So was being a visionary campaigner, highway engineer, or vehicle sponsor wrong?

I completely understand why the poster would upset people, but is it REALLY a hate crime? The article claims the poster is anti-semitic, but Jews are not mentioned or seen anywhere on the poster! The ONLY anti-semitic comments mentioned in the article were scrawled across a window ledge, not even written on one of the posters.

Does it really require the forensic resources of the police department to dust for prints and review CCTV footage and try to arrest someone for an OPINION? Right now, that's all it is for whomever slapped them up.

WHEN the system eventually churns up a suspect and charges him/her with these 'crimes' the REAL racist/prejudiced groups will hold them up as proof that the 'immigrants' have taken over, and the government is owned by the minorities. THAT's when the townsfolk with the pitchforks and burning torches come out of the woodwork.

Simply removing the posters and not even giving them the time of day would have been a far more effective strategy in my opinion. Don't give them the TV/newspaper/radio time they're obviously looking for.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welthauptstadt_Germania

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_architecture

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichsautobahn

The Reichsautobahn system was the beginning of the German autobahns under the Third Reich. There had been previous plans for controlled-access highways in Germany under the Weimar Republic, and two had been built, but long-distance highways had not been successfully built. After previously opposing plans for a highway network, the Nazis embraced them after coming to power and presented the project as Adolf Hitler's own idea. They were termed "Adolf Hitler's roads" (German: die Straen Adolf Hitlers) and presented as a major contribution to the reduction of unemployment. Other reasons for the project included: enabling Germans to explore and appreciate their country; military applications, although to a lesser extent than has often been thought;[1] symbol and celebration of the power of the Nazi regime; general promotion of motoring as a modernization that in itself had indirect military advantages. The construction of the autobahns became a major media event that the Reich Minister of Propaganda used also to attract international attention.[2]

Hitler performed the first ceremonial shoveling of dirt on September 23, 1933, at Frankfurt, and work officially began simultaneously at multiple sites throughout the Reich the following spring. The first finished stretch, between Frankfurt and Darmstadt, opened on May 19, 1935, and the first 1,000 kilometers (620 mi) were completed on September 23, 1936. After the annexation of Austria, the planned network was expanded to include the Ostmark, and a second sod-breaking ceremony for the first Reichsautobahn on formerly Austrian territory took place near Salzburg on April 7, 1938. When work ceased in 1941 because of World War II, 3,819.7 kilometers (2,373.5 mi) had been completed.

Okay, NOW who's playing ignorant? No one chooses a universally vilified image to promote their ideas out of a sense of love and care. You are playing games here. Just admit it, and explain why.

So, Hitler is universally regarded as the first modern politician to campaign for office using the airplane. At the time he was considered almost God-like for being able to appear in widely distant cities on the same day to give a speech.

Yes. because of WHY he did everything he did.

Besides, he wasn't any of these things that you admire him for. "Visionary campaigner?" For using the technology of the time to promote himself? I guess you never studied a single bit of history. EVERY generation of politicians use the tech of the time. When railroads were the latest form of travel, the "whistle-stop" campaign concept followed. Only a completely ignorant person, or someone intent on praising someone who didn't deserve praise, would make this mistake.

And you are ACTUALLY going to pretend that the Eisenhower-led building of the US highway system is because of Hitler? Grow up.

Again, an erroneous reading of politicized History. He did nothing of the kind. He started with a Germany after WW1 that had NOT been physically damaged by that war, whose factories were intact, and whose people were still basically strong, but desperate and persecuted by the idiocy of the rest of Europe. He propagandized the hell out of what his party did do, and exaggerated it again and again.

The mistakes he made weren't small, and weren't limited to murder.

What I remember him for, is handing control of all of Eastern Europe over to Communism for half a century, and crippling his adopted country for the duration.

If you admire an economy built almost entirely on Government spending, that's fine, but I doubt you'll find many modern supporters for that.

No, again, he did NOT turn Germany into a "superpower."

"Super powers" last more than ten years. All Hitler did was make a huge mess in Europe for a few years, at a time when there was no functional competition on the continent.

A lot of post-war Historians who wanted to excuse the MANY failures of the allied powers after the fact, made out that Hitler had managed to work magical things, but it isn't true.

There's a lesson there for today's world as well: many times, when your leaders are proclaiming about how powerful and dangerous your enemies are, it isn't because they feel constrained by honor to be honest. It's because they want to get you to be fearful or otherwise delusional enough that they can get you to ignore their very real failings, as well as to get you to let them enrich themselves at your expense.

and the 2/3thirds of Europe he took means nothing? you keep telling me how wrong i am, but the history is still there... he did what he did, whats there to argue about?

was Germany defeated in WW1? and ten years later, Germany was a superpower to be dealt with...
did he not rise to power and almost take over the world? he already had most of Europe, so all that was left was Asia and the US, and the Asians were basically on his side...

so keep telling me how wrong i am while you study those FACTS i just said...

MM, you left out the possibility of German European space ships landing on Mars!! But for Germany's pool of scientists that Russia and America divvied up. laugh

On the other hand the near annihilation of Europe's one million Jewish families; and the fact that Nazi Germany carried it out with cold military precision with their network of gas-chambers marks out what military dictatorship is all about. I refer this with Syria in mind.

This is what Pakistan's General Musharraf said recently: "Osama was our hero & CIA's as well' The General takes credit for starting religious militancy:
united militants from across the globe to fight Soviet forces... & trained terror groups like LeT in 90s for fanning militancy in Kashmir

Now look at the young gen Muslims:
Raif Badawi, a blogger has been sentenced to 1000 lashes 'for insulting Islam'. Saudi authorities have given the green signal to resume flogging. Do the young gen of Saudi bloggers care about Osama or Badawi?

The way Koran is structured, there's no escape; may be it's just Nazi Germany's Aryan Supremacy manifesto; packaged differently.
Yes I say, Prophet Hitler is right. Kick the public & the Public is yours. bigsmile

Yes, slightly off topic. I see the point of comparison you are trying to make. However there is no comparison.
Jews were in Germany(& other countries) for thousands of years & assimilated & were peaceful. Wherever they were already was their home. So they ere not in 'host' countries.

They weren't recent migrants to the point of invasion & didn't have a hand out or a criminal/rape culture... Or arson. Nor did they have 'Sharia Law'. And the Jews had no desire to made the world Jewish. Like the Nation of Islam does.
Muslim terrorists, sneaking in, (already documented), is only a small fraction of concern in Europe & The USA.
No county wants to change, or loose or even adapt their culture anymore than a host should for a house guest.

The world isn't suffering from Muslimphobia. The world could care less who is Muslim & who is not. And Anti Semitism & Islamicphobia are two different things. * So is Muslimphobia & Islamicphobia*

Bad analogy or comparison.

Your 100% right. Hitler was a sick, evil POS but he was by no means dumb.

He made a couple of costly mistakes, and it is scary to think how the war would have turned out if he didn't.

First mistake he had some brilliant military and civilian leaders and didn't listen to them and I think there would have been a different outcome if he had.

Also not waiting a few years for Germany to be fully prepared and armed for war. He could have had a fully armed and equipped Army, Navy and Air Force if he waited.

His biggest mistake was Operation Barbarossa he should have kept the treaty with Russia. Spreading the war across so many fronts and to divert so many resources into fighting Russia was a waste and cost him the war.

He should also pressed his allies mostly Japan from attacking countries not already involved in the war. Japan brought the USA into the war, and FDR was a major pu$$y and planned to stay out of the war. Hitler was furious that Japan did that but had to honor the treaty.

Anyone who says Nazi Germany wasn't a superpower does not know their history at all. They controlled the majority of Europe and other parts of the world. It took three superpowers plus France to really defeat them.

Bad analogy or comparison.

They weren't recent migrants to the point of invasion & didn't have a hand out or a criminal/rape culture.

Right on both counts but indulge me a bit.

Lets start with bad analogy:
Tell me what I missed on Hitler's viewpoint because I never got beyond his 'Aryan Supremacy' line of thought and his thinking that Jews would sabotage the Nazi war effort. Were these enough to trash the Chosen People? Or was it the fact that the economy was held by these capitalists: 'merciless moneylenders'?

We in India also have an influential segment in our society called Marwaris: hailing from the desert state of Rajasthan. The earlier gen started off as moneylenders; the next gen moved in as trade during British era and today's gen have among them leading business leaders of this country.

So my viewpoint depends on whether I have taken a loan from a Marwari at exorbitant rates after providing security or whether I am having a decent job working in their organization.

Hitler viewed them not as Capitalists but as moneylenders 'raping' the German economy. A Hate that stemmed among Germans during a weak economy; and from such perceived injuries.

That was the analogy part. Hitler didn't care for the Jews, nor did Europe of those times, raise their voice when this got noticed. The prevailing thought was: 'the Jews had it coming'.

Now switch to "invasion" and criminal culture".
Those Syrians coming out with their families are working class faced with the choice of leaving behind their ancestral lands or exposing their familes to the threat of chemical bombs. These people, like most Asian people; don't have guns in their homes. Arming these people does not turn them overnight to an army able to fight the professional military and government in their country.

Move forward to the raising incidence of criminal behavior by Syrian boys. It's typical juvenile brain at work. Their brain is not programmed to view women in skirts. For that matter, Indian people in general, the blue collared working class and some segments of youth; are also not used to seeing women in skirts. It hits their brain as forbidden fruits "now packaged in skirts"; a lifetime opportunity. This has nothing to do with religion. It's plain juvenile tendencies; insufficient to cordon them off and send them back to chemical bombs or to some gas chamber.

In other words, the view that the boys are 'handing out' a criminal culture is out of context. It's simply a matter of disciplining them and authorities in the host countries can send out very strong messages.

There is a pattern in history: and that pattern is visible as analogies when we compare historical 'processes' not just the end results.

The strife between the German Jew and the German Aryan or German Slav is comparable with the Syrian Shia and the Syrian Sunni.

You know all this but yet you paint what is not America and what is not white culture 'under a broad brush'.
