When I was younger going to see a movie.. was an adventure.. it was exciting.... stand in the long line ups outside the movie house waiting and hoping and praying you make it to the ticket booth before they sold out...
Checking out all the pretty girls in the lineup... making small talk as the line began to move..... heckling anybody that tried to cut in front of the line..lol..
Catching up on all the latest movie gossip... and on those cold days stamping your feet doing jumping jacks trying to keep warm...lol...
Then you would get to the box office purchase your magic ticket... make a mad dash to find the best set.. then go get your freshly made popcorn..
Drink and candy....... loved going to the movies.. back then..yup.... but now days it has changed.. and not for the better.. would you agree?

. Now I take my oversized drinks and oversized stale bag of popcorn... and go stand in line to enter the theater room...wtf..

Ok.. don't even get me started on the price of the movie ticket.... $14 per person.. the young boy at the box office says to me ...would you like to upgrade your seat sir.?..me....what..!!? him...Yes we have fully automated seats that move with the action of the movie.. and have better speakers built into them to enhance your movie going experience...Ummmm. . Are all the seats like that?.. no no sir just one row for an additional cost you can be a special moviegoer....ummm... no thanks I want to blend in with everybody else not stick out and be some arrogant uppity.. doda. .... the only thing I really like is when they let you pre select your seat.. that is brilliant.. . But I go to select my set ...and it turns out everyone that sat at home and bought their tickets online has already reserved the best set..wtf... doesn't seem very fair in the spirit of the movie going tradition .. it used to be the first one physically at the box office got the best seat.. a bit of a reward for being early...yup..

I haven't been to a Movie theatre in about 20 years. After reading this I don't think I will.
I can buy it..
Sit at home.. eating freshly made popcorn/ with extra butter free!!!
better snacks.
be comfortable in clothes that are made to be comfy as I indulge in all the
fattening goodies.
Snuggle with my sweetie...

oh yeah I have great surround sound system built into the house.

No I can't see a reason for me to deal with all that ..

I always wonder also what people do in those seats ewww....

Peewee Herman ruined the movie experience for me.
Just felt icky sitting in one of those seats.

my bank card builds up points so I can see the movie for free.. I usually stay away from the junk food and look forward to a nice meal afterwards.
The last time I went, I got upgraded to that moving seat for free, as it was new at the time..(only a couple months ago). and I don't think I would pay any extra for it either.
Other than that.. was the movie good?

Lol.. yes I do prefer to watch movies at home I actually built a home theater room for that purpose... but there is a certain at least there used to be..
A certain movie going experience in going to the movies at the theater..
The human interaction.. similar to going to a carnival I suppose..
But corporate America and their need for greed has spoiled the experience..
. They now build giant movie Cineplex..
Catering to the movie experience and the family outing.... giant arcades with their overly priced games.. say goodbye to video games and pinball machines.... you remember those games they were based on skill drop your quarter in and play as long as you can keep the ball going.. or your mr.pacman alive..lol... now they are all redemption games put your dollar in push the button.... and hope the big spinning wheel lands on big winner..

And then spits out a crap load of tickets..ohhh.. wait a minute they have even change that now now you no longer put quarters are tokens in you buy a plastic card.. and of course there is a minimum of $5 for that..grrr.. you use it sort of like you would to open a hotel room door slide your card.. into the mechanism and it gives you 1 play and it keeps track of your ticket winnings.... very technically savvy..
. Of course if you buy a $5 card which is the minimum and only use $2 of it... now you can always use the remaining $3 when you come back to the arcade at the movie theater next time... meanwhile the Theater has your $3..lol.. making them a nice little bit of interest while they wait for you to return..wtf..

I don't go to the movies
I think it's a waste of money. It's cheaper to buy the movie and the snacks to watch it at home where you have moved your mattress and bedding into the lounge on the floor (we call whanau/ family bed).
Everyone is snuggled in and the movie begins.
Movie after movie the last to sleep turns off the TV.
It's a lot of fun not good if one snores.

Now see your your movie mecca's are way more sophisticated than mine. The pinball machines hey I was champ on them.. Loved them.

the plastic card thing would ruin the whole experience for me.

I guess I am getting to old and would rather have a group of friends over and play on the Xbox or watch the movies. My taste in treats has changed drastically over the years also.

I would prefer sushi while watching a movie.. yupp...

If I want a carnival experience I go to one... That way I get my fix all in one swoop and be done.

.. yes I have a scene Visa card as well I use it for business I will pay $20,000 worth of material and received 20 movies.. $1,000 equals 1 movie... I use it a lot..lol.. but here's the kicker my dear.. when I used my scene card last night and then ask . The box office person to include ..the number 3 combo .. with my ticket purchase.....which should have been a large popcorn 2 pop's a bag of candy.. what I received when I presented my pay stub at the concession ..was one popcorn 2 pop's... no candy..slaphead ..wtf.. I asked the young freckled faced concessions stand worker..ummm.. how about my candy.. sorry sir what you purchased was a movie night out package..ummm. I'm pretty sure I told the guy at the box office I wanted the number 3 combo.. well when you use your scene card it doesn't come with the candy..grrrrrr... ok $20 without the sceneCard... 18 somethings with the scene card.. minus the candy of course..
But I do like the fact that a movie cost me $1,000 and I get no candy and I get stale popcorn and flat pop..lol

Last time I went to the movies I brought my snacks at the supermarket and hid them in the bag.

Lol no sign saying we couldn't.

Jaffas to roll down under the seats for the noise affect when it was quiet.
chips loud crunching sound at the right moments. Jaws was good for that.
Voicing get a room man your distracting my movie by your sound affects. Give it a rest.

Yes we were little. ...... but had fun. tongue2 waving

Anyone want to come to the movies with me?
Your shout??

Unless it's a big movie like the upcoming Star Wars I avoid mainstream cinemas, too many obnoxious movie goers. I prefer the Indie theaters, those generally attract like minded people that are actually there to watch the movie and not play on their phones or talk to their friends. But even then I'll go mainly to see an older film re released on the big screen.

..yes I very much agree..
Expecially the cell phone part they used to say turn your phone off.. but now before the movie starts they encourage people to pull out their smartphones and interact with a on screen game before the movie starts..
You win scene points...omg... not to mention now advertisers push their products on you with mega commercials.. funny I go to the movies to get away from commercials.. grrrr..
.. yes I looked around in the dark last night and could count five people sitting on their phones.. chatting online or playing video games..
That's how good the new James Bond movie was..lol

and there is something to be said for seeing it on the big screen happy

That's like moaning your chips is soggy after you put vinegar on it! slaphead
You people are weird. Everyone knows you eat fries with mayonnaise and popcorn is sugared.

Well, I meant that pop(corn), lol. Gross to put butter on it ill

The mayonnaise ... I asked for that in a restaurant in Oz. The guy blushed to the roots of his hair. One of the most awkward moments of my life, because I didn't get why on earth he felt embarrassed?
Next time I wanted mayo with my fries, I had my Canadian roommate ask for it  I daren't ask myself anymore...
She came back with a TEASPOON of mayo slaphead slaphead What good is that going to do a cloggie? You need a blob.
But yeah .. when in Rome ... but even in 'Rome' I still don't eat my fries with vinegar, puke!
