I don't think there is some generalization about this.
Different people, different needs...nowadays or ever... As far as I know even the same person at different times may have different needs. And for some there could be no bed partner if they can't find friendship in the same person....  |

Almost every generation thinks they are the first one to "see life clearly," and that all generations past were the deluded ones. I've come to suspect this is actually due to something in our DNA, that drives us to spread out even more, for the overall safety of the species. Same basic reason while most teens suddenly feel hostility towards parents and other authorities, and get the urge to move away and start their own "race." For more illumination on how much each generation ISN'T all that different, look up ancient graffiti. People wrote the same crap on walls thousand of years ago as now. |
