What is the unwritten code for dating your best friend's ex-girlfriend/boyfriend. Specifically, the time frame and is it worth the drama?

If it was an actual relationship and not just a couple dates then for me they are off limits forever. Not worth the drama from either one of them.

Dating a friend's ex would be like staring at a tattoo with the
friend's name in huge letters on the ex.. 'I hit this first!'

Fair enough if you're prepared to lose the friend. The only way to know for sure, is to ask the friend himself.

To me that's one of the unwritten rules that says NO WAY! OFF LIMITS!

I'd feel very awkward myself, knowing he'd been (intimate) with my best friend. Too close for comfort.
No matter what, it will cause friction one way or another for someone.

If I'd want to endeavour there, I sure as heck talk to my friend about it first. And if they'd been in a solid relationship, I think waiting a year is fair. That's the time most ppl need to truly get over a breakup after a LTR.
If it wasn't a LTR, I'd still talk to the friend and wait at least 3 months.

But again, for me it's a NO GO zone.

To be honest sir I think we all have had that temptation, but speaking for myself I would not venture there because my best friend has been there for me my whole life through thick and thin and no way would I want to hurt his feelings.

Actually, my friend is kinda pushing her on to me, all the time....she does not understand why, I really dont care, but deep down I feel his pain and its why I am desperately trying to hold off...but its getting harder all the time, gotta admit that...all I am saying..

For me, I would definitely not date my friend's ex bf......it's a NO, NO! I respect my friend and I don't want to hurt her feelings. And for decency sake, it's kindah awkward thinking they've been intimate before......I don't like to think or imagine that everytime I see my friend I see them together and how it was with them before. Aaaawwww!!!slaphead noway

Not something I will do.. To me if they are a true friend then I would already know why they split up and normally it is never just cause they both are tired of each other.. But some really good reasons why I would not find myself with them as well...

Now if they are just someone I have been introduced to and really don't know them it might be different.. But have not had that happen..

The group of friends that I hang out with I would never date the ones they are with if they break up. It is like a written rule for me..

And if one was pushing someone off on me they dated and it did not work out I still would stand back and say thanks but no thanks...it is never a good thing to do.. Even if they say it is okay how do you think they would really feel when you bring them around them..To me it would be uncomfortable and I would not loose a friend over that kind of situation.
