Years and years ago I set up a meet
with a feller at the park.

I got there early to scope it out.
I see a guy arrive with a dog.
Then I saw him kick the dog!

It was him so I just left.
I ignored all attempts to contact me.
I still want to whack him for the dog.

He and the date were both short.

What was your shortest first meeting and why?

Cafe meeting.

Why was it a cafe meeting?
It was in the middle of the day during lunch hour and we both had jobs.

Why was it shortest?
It was in the middle of the day during lunch hour and we both had jobs.

Where was it held and what was the outcome, good, bad or ugly.

It was held at a cafe.
The outcome is generally neutral as I've done a bunch.
They only really take 15 or so minutes.

I'm not the type to sit online and yak yak yak for weeks or months.

You know how you go to the grocery store, or a bar, or a book store, or the park, you see a cute chick, so you go talk to her?

Sometimes you go to the grocery store, the bar, or a book store, or the park, and there are no cute girls.

So then you can go online, send someone a couple of emails, and set up a meeting at a grocery store, or a bar, or a book store, or a park, or (my preference) a cafe, so you can go talk to them and see if you want to date them.

Sitting online yakking and committing to an ever growing fantasy relationship simply instills a false sense of security, desire, and expectations.
That's what leads to things like "bad" and "ugly" first meets.
I'd rather avoid those.

I have never gotten to meet an online interest in person before, but I must admit that I am excited by the idea of it.

I hope it happens for me eventually and I certainly hope it goes well if it does, but whether it's a good date or a bad one, I consider the experience to be an adventure because it's so new to me !biggrin .

And I keep my expectations of people and life relatively low anyway, so I doubt I will be that disappointed even if it doesn't go very well. laugh

Share it with us, as I know we have all had one we would like to forget.

Lucky or not, you could be the exception biggrin

:D
i take months and months before i decide to meet someone. it may be a reason or maybe luck :)

but this shortest 3 days long one; i would not spend even that long time with him if he didnt come from a long distance and his ticket was for 3 days later. still i tried my best to create good accompany like showing him the town, long walks, arranging movies etc. i used my patience to the last bits lol

when i was chatting with this guy on the forums, every time i said i baked a banana cake, he would say "oh i like it, i want it too"
then as a surprise i baked a banana cake for him. made it ready just before he arrived
he came and i offered him the cake
he said no i dont want
i said, but you many times said u like and want it.

he said "did u ask me before you would really cook it?"

and still i did not show him the door a s he was a guest at a town where he did not know.
i bit my tongue to keep shut up.
i was that much patient
my friends later said i should first smash that cake on his face at the very first moment and then throw him out straight away. but i did not..

I threw a whole turkey once. A 22lb bird on Thanksgiving. Wasn't a first meet or date of course. But, I knew then I could never put up with that guy.
Ungrateful & too many control issues over food.
Who knows.. What else there could be.?

oh God !! that is extremely annoying. that is worse than my cake event. especially happening on thanksgiving day..

that is a shame that out there maybe there are nice guys deserving some nice behaviours. but some ungrateful ones are finishing the credits to the last bits. the credits at me are over. i will never ever even prepare an instant soup for a man. i swore about it seriously.

Several quick meet and greets went as follows 1) talked and met she shows up and I don't recognize her, she posted another womans photos so she came up to me and said hello. Surprised she was attractive but her lack of honesty was sufficient reason to just chat a few minutes then thank her for meeting - too many hidden issues to deal with 2) Met a gal at a wine bar as agreed her photos were lovely and she appeared in bathing suit weighing about 125 she appeared at wine meeting and outweighed me by sixty lbs im at 186 she was morbidly obese I shared her my disappointment with her false photos and my specific preferences for HWP, 3) One lady met immediately and she wanted to read my palm she did and said I was going to die in less than a year if I did not get her to take care of me - she requested I let her take care of me and take out an insurance policy for 50,000 naming her as beneficiary I was amazed at her scheme and thought how nice for her to collect cash upon my demise lol 4) one lady agreed to meet and the time to meet from 530 to 600 she did not appear at six so I called her and she said she would be there in ten more minutes she arrived, chose not to make eye contact but was quite verbose and after a drink I found her lack social skills enough to not pursue. many are called and few are chosen regardless of narrative, photos, as some enjoy social masturbation with no real interest in meeting just getting attention reminds me of high school when boys would get a girls phone number then not call so silly and immature and now I find some gals doing similar juvenile things here.. If you aren't comfortable with a large number of potential meets this process can be hard on people as emotional expectations run high and honest and direct others not so much. The last time I met and found a partner I had previously met 62 women. I confess to high standards in education, appearance and diverse interests so that narrows the field in the initial process.. but then if one is not willing to run the process one does not desire its potential rewards as of today im at number 49 and counting... lol

The most propitious meeting is soon and not for a long period of time just enough to determine chemistry and mutual interests then if both agree, schedule an actual date. By committing so much time without a prior meeting you made yourself a prisoner of good will. Smarter to meet for just a few minutes to better invest your time and not suffer through three days of placating a stranger.. a dating coach might help you learn better social skills and help you better meet and greet rather than commit and suffer in the name of ill advised good intentions.. Knowledge is power and owning your own errors in dating protocols is necessary to be more effective and likely meet the right person.
