Congratulations. I have never smoked, but I admire anyone who quits because I know it's not easy, but it sure will be better for you in the long run. Sure, you may gain some weight for a time, but later you will be able to lose it again. You go girl!

First of all, great job :) It's not easy, but I also quit many years ago. Takes a lot of discipline but you can do it.

I had a friend that couldn't some because of his illness, so everytime he had the craving he ate some candy, like gum, jolleyranchers, stuff like that, that would make'em forget about wanting to smoke, so you can try that

Well I started dieting for 6 weeks before I quit...so I have a good diet and excersize routine. Now that I have that established I feel confident I can kick the habit and not gain weight. I recently lost 33 pounds this month.

Ive had 2 open heart surgeries already...when I finally got good news this summer I decided I was going to do everything I could to ensure that I would never need a 3rd open heart.

don't give up, you're almost there! once you get past 5 days, it's out of your system physically and the rest is all mental. i stopped a few years ago and something that helped was cutting up straws in to three pieces. they're about the same size as cigarettes and you just chew on them. it's like having a cigarette, but without all the bad side effects. same size and something to do with your hands. do that for about a week and you got it licked. i have since picked it up again and would love to quit. it's so hard. so kudos to you! keep up the good work!

i had bronchitis a couple weeks ago so i couldn't smoke for like, 5 days... so i just decided to keep going from that point... went 2 weeks without smoking and then 2 of my friends (who smoke) came over and i couldn't stand to watch them do it and not do it myself... so now i'm back to smoking but hoping to quit.

it's not even the niccotine, it's the habit that's hard to kick. i'm gonna have to quit after 4 more, because i can't afford another pack... it needs done though. it's really tough to quit without anyone's support... but at the same time, when trying to quit, i get grumpy when people tell me I can't smoke... that whole "you can't tell me what to do" thing.

oh, also, i might add, if you have the cash to spring (i can't find them anywhere else but online) there's a company called Smoke Free (i think their website is smokefree.com and they sell tobacco-free cigarettes... they're made from cocoa beans I think. I'm told they don't taste great, but it's supposed to help.

I've been tryin to quit the last few months. I finally tried Chntix (ask ur doc about it) but then the insurance got messed up and I fell off the wagons after a whole month of no smoking.

I tried the Chantix again and again they let me start but cutt me off in the middle of treatment, but I had been smoke free for more than two weeks so I have been doing this cold turkey for a month now. 1mo and 5 days......

Hats off twilights! Keep up the good work and if it gets really bad, ask your Dr about chantix. It really really works and is non nicotine based.

Everyone! Those who are quiting, you are strong and wise, those who have quit have great willpower and strength.

Kudos to everyone!

On again off again with them...like my love life...lol
Its especially hard when dating because of the inconsistancy with it. Do I steer twards a smoke or not ? I am always asking myself. I will however, promote Nicoderm CQ. When I doput them down I use Nicoderm (has to be that brand) patches I can be off of them for months at a time. they are wonderful for me....But then out of the blue...or when I have a drink....my basic lights are calling my name.
the owrst part fo it is...here goes...my mother died of lung cancer in a horrifying way. She had put them down 10 years before they got HER.
good luck to all.

I took Chantix for 3 or 4 months and I haven't had a cigarette since the 21st of March...I smoked for 37 years and not having any cigarettes around the house the first night was the scariest thing I've ever been through.. Now, ever once in a while I'll want a cigarette, but then I think about how bad they smell...there's nothing worse than a reformed whore or an ex- smoker...laugh laugh laugh
