The people have voted
We will not be changing our flag
It will remain the same.

To be honest I am glad
I like the flag
So it looks similar to the Aussies. They are our neighbours and family we fought with (ANZAC).
It has the union jack. I like English they helped form this country as well.

It's part of our history.

I personally thought it was a waste of money that could have been spent elsewhere.

I'm glad John Key didn't get his way

This is my view

I demand they take it down.

The Maori used slaves and were cannibals.

It's part of the heritage they fought to preserve.

The flag is racist.

I'm telling Obama.

Go for it, make my day lol

Every country has had their down falls.

This wasn't the flag that was chopped down in Russell 3xs by Hone Heke in1800s.
Yes there are still issues that they are still sorting out from what happened back there. To be honest for me let it go. There are no full blood Maori. Let the past be the past.

During that time there was treaty signed between the English and Maori to live in peace as one people and one nation.
Apparently the English treated the Maori bad by taking land, treated the Maori like dogs so to protest Hone and his tribe chopped it down to get their point across.

Hone Heke is a relative lol
It explains a lot.

It was the prime minister John Key.
Some believe to get rid of the union jack.
They don't believe it should be on there as the English don't do anything.
This country wouldn't be where we are today without their contribution in the past
The first schools were mission school that educated many.

Others are saying John wanted it changed because it had something to do with the TPPA that was signed last year. Again people protested but it fell on deaf ears.
I am not totally sure about that

A proud day for nz .. Smiling

perhaps mr key can reimburse nz the stupid amount of money wasted on the unwanted redesigns . I am sure he can afford it ... but if not , he can work for free ..lmao

No Blondey it comes out of our taxes just like his debt from the teapot saga. He pays part of it and we pay the rest to that camera man.

I don't see him in next time

Nice looking flag. Being native, I can understand the Maori frustration. Sometimes you can't let it go.

The Union Jack reminds Kiwis of the place that their ancestors wanted to get away from.

That's true
I don't have a problem with it.
There are a lot of good things that both nations brought together.
