Actually there are several scams going around as well as the one where the Police Department is calling you saying you owe for a past ticket or toll booth ect and saying you have to pay it right then or you will be arrested..

There are also ones going around saying they work for the IRS same type of thing..

There is no government office that will call you on the phone asking you these type of things..

Any time you receive a call from anyone saying you owe them money for a utility ect always tell them thank you that you will call them in a few and get it all paid.. Then call the numbers you really know..

Never ever give your CC #'s or SS # to anyone over the phone.. unless you have called them to pay a bill,....

It is best to call your local Police Department and make a report..

This is the same with any repair men that just happen to stop at your house and say they are with a utility company even call them to verify it is legit..But look up the number yourself never use the numbers they give you..

It is always best to be safe then sorry~~~whoa

There is a 1-800# for Nation Wide No Call List. You must call it from each phone to register that number.
I also use 360 Security App. I add any number that I don't recognize.

ONCE my bank called me ( only once, I gave them hell rofl & hung up on them ), the next day I went to branch. NO ONE, not the bank, utility, agency etc. Can call me. They must notify me by mail. REAL mail. laugh

There is a New York, Texas. They shut down the scammer topics so people don't help scammers improve their game.

Good general rule to follow...NEVER give personal info, especially credit card numbers, to anyone who calls YOU.

Always take down their information, including a name and callback number, then independently use OTHER ways to contact who they claim to be, that you can trust, and verify things.

DO the same thing with online demands for money, for those that come in the mail, and even those that happen in person.

Thanks for the information, always good to know what the scammers are doing.

I had a call a while back from a guy that said he was a Microsoft technician, and they had registered a problem with my PC because malware had been downloaded. To cure the problem he needed to gain remote access to my PC so he could remove it. I hung up, I had experienced no problems with the PC and suspected a scam. I doubt they were genuine because they did not call back, and I have had no issues with my PC. I had heard of cases here in the UK of people having their PC frozen by scammers until they paid a ransom to restore it, you can never take telephone calls from people you don't know at face value.

Humm maybe it is not the Mods job to deal with Profile's. We only deal with the forums Admin deals with the profiles.

So did you report it??

Ohh and in case you are not aware of it there has been a glitch in the system lately where the city and state do not matchslaphead

And threads on how to deal with scammers are locked down, why let them know what you are looking for???

Have never understood if they are smart enough to scam people do people not think they can read?? slaphead

Besides this thread is about people being scammed over the phone by utility company's ect on the phone..

I had a 24 yr. Ask me to buy him a new TV from Walmart. He emailed me the model & price & asked me to charge it. And to have it delivered to Ghana . He even told me what newspaper flyer it was in.

I gave him a name of a cab company & told him to order me a voucher for an unmarked sedan, for 1 year, so I could go to that store whenever I want to.

He said ' sorry to bother you Mam'
