Excerpts from The Moderate Voice:

"It took only 3 hours for an all-white jury in Tulsa County to convict Oklahoma's Barney Fife for the shooting death of an unarmed black man.

This particular case had the potential of becoming another Ferguson, MO.* The man who died was face-down on the ground, handcuffed and held by four law officers when Tulsa County Reserve Deputy Robert Bates shot the man in the back."

"During his defense of Bates, attorney Clark Brewster tried a Hail-Mary pass by insisting that the deceased died of a heart attack that just so happened to take place immediately after the deceased was shot."

"This isn't the first time that Clark Brewster tried to baffle a jury with bull. Prior to defending Mister Bates, Brewster defended Oklahoma's infamous penis-pump judge.

If Austin Powers ever needs a lawyer . . ."

Ferguson and this incident aren't even closely similar....what a hack comment.

well,I guess the excessive loss of Blood from a Gunshot could result in some sort of a Heart-attack!
That's why he probably was just convicted of Manslaughter instead of Murder!huh

Reb,

Your critique is valid. So, I added an additional statement to the blog post.
The statement says, "This particular case had the potential of becoming another Ferguson, MO because an acquittal would have resulted in a protest circus that would have made national news and brought the race hustlers to town."

IT is a slur against a Police Officer who is considered incompetent and dangerous as was a character on the long running Black and White TV show "The Andy Griffith Show". Barney Fife was a character too dumb to be allowed to have a loaded gun because he would draw it in any situation necessary or not. The performer; stellar comedian, Don Knotts' was a Master at site gags and performed for decades including but not limited to long running sitcom Three's Company. Both shows are popular "Nick At Night shows and sold in season packages at many video merchants as classic TV.

The show launched many TV careers and Producer Ron Howard, later of Happy Day's fame, was one of the few Child stars that managed being so recognizable that he still has a world wide audience.
