interesting....when we start pointing fingers on who is 'not right' or 'not normal' based on our own ideas of what is acceptable and what is not

hmmmmm classifying according to certain qualities of who we decide is in an who is not in our group

and then discriminating others based on that criteria

now where have I heard of this before

who sais anything about discriminating?

I don't agree and the lung association agrees, that smoking is right or 'healthy',,,but that doesn't follow that I discriminate or advocate for people who happen to be smokers

once upon a time the APA didn't agree that alternate sexual lifestyles were healthy, until they declared that they basically cant PROVE they are unhealthy

I deal with smokers all day without prejudice,, but if they want to smoke around me,,, I should and do have an option to choose not to be where they are smoking

If you know anything about molesters then you would know they often groom other children and same sex adults to lure their victims.

You may not know much about molesters.

When providing them with Tx, I discovered that they preferred children simply because : 1) could not or were afraid to approach and risk rejection of someone closer to their age.

2) children were easy targets and more vulnerable

3) have severe interpersonal social issues.

Some have been gay, just not all.

we are all humans, why the divide?

Quite right, the problem is reproduction, we were all born of a female impregnated by a male...if enough people go trans or homosexual, then humans die out, it's not rocket salald

Conversely, over-population meets a cure.

Well, the end of the human race would certainly solve the overpopulation 'problem' bigsmile

Guess you people never heard of amber alerts? Kids are walked out of restrooms all the time. Professing to know all you become the fool.

You are so correct.

Perhaps children can be accompanied by a parent or guardian when using the restrooms. I personally don't leave children out of my site when they are in my care.

I don't anyone is trying to be a no-it-all. Just adding their input to the thread in a respectful manner without any name calling.

If everyone decided to be chaste the human race would die out.
If all men became (sincere) Catholic priests we'd all die out.
Just because you can come up with 'what ifs' it doesn't mean that they have any basis in reality.

Homosexuality is a natural part of sex, occurring in many (probably most) animal species, and does not lead to extinction. Indeed, one study suggests that some homosexuality may be a side-effect of increased fertility in women (http://www.livescience.com/2623-gays-dont-extinct.html).

I think the topic of this discussion forum is misleading..grouping sexual orientations like being straight or gay , with a gender identity(transgender)

Transgenderism: A Pathogenic Meme
by Paul McHugh

The idea that one’s sex is a feeling, not a fact, has permeated our culture and is leaving casualties in its wake. Gender dysphoria should be treated with psychotherapy, not surgery.

Oh Brother. Many things were once called "Disorders" that now with greater knowledge and research we know are "normal" for a percentage of the population. Doesn't mean you have to consider it normal but I guarantee you it did not just suddenly change over night.

But if you were to have any medical background or know someone who does you would know that thousands of infants are born multiple sex or even asexual every year and thankfully we do not destroy these infants for just being the exception rather than being the norm. If our society becomes what it is expected to become those who are of a certain singular minority, whatever it is , are soon going to be the abnormal.

If the general population thinks that transgender identity; especially having the hormone therapy and surgery required to become the opposite sex is just a whim that you just pretend or get any doctor to do does not understand how complicated the issue is and how difficult the process is. Or that it is "just about feelings" but many bio medical factors both psychological and physiological that have to be sorted out just don't have the knowledge they need to have anything more than an "opinion" on the issue because the facts clearly prove otherwise.

If you think the average transgender person gets accolades and that people fawn all over them then you clearly are misinformed.

Insinuating that a person who want to be who they understand them self to be; especially when the required psychological counseling is intense to be certain that it is not just self mutilation, is really ridiculous.

the Article has been written by someone with an intense Medical and Psychiatric Background, but if you think you have better qualifications than him,be my Guest!laugh

Yea and if you check into his background and who funded some of these studies you might also see a serious overlay of religious prejudice which is rampant in people who want to push their agenda's. Psychologists and researches are not immune to saying anything that is not strictly hetero sexual or does not require that a person spend a lifetime in therapy denying that their hormonal and sometimes even physical structures are mixed and maybe the early assignment might have in fact been inaccurate.

Read the Article,don't guess!slaphead

we view them as ill because they are not attracted to adults

we can view them ill because they aren't attracted to opposite sex as well

although I would replace the term 'mental illness' with 'emotional illness'

illness is not to be hated or detested

we don't hate people for having cancer and a whole lot of people who view the alleged inability to be attracted to the opposite sex DO NOT see it as cause to hate or detest someone either,,,

who are you referring to by we ms harmony .. Perhaps you meant to say 'I'.. It is your opinion isn't it :-)

You may be interested in what the world health organisation had to say .. .. Twenty two years ago, on May 17, the World Health Assembly removed homosexuality from the list of mental disorders when it approved a new version of the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10).

"Since homosexuality is not a disorder , disease or illness ( including emotional illness :-) it does not require a cure.

The PAHO statement notes that there is a professional consensus that homosexuality is a natural variation of human sexuality and cannot be regarded as a pathological condition.

ICD-10 was implemented in 2015, NOT 20 years ago. Homosexuality was removed from the diagnostic and stat. manual over 40 years ago. However, for sex change surgery one will have to be diagnosed with a mental illness to be allowed to have such surgery. Not saying that it can't happen under the table.

ICD-10 was endorsed by the Forty-third World Health Assembly in May 1990 and came into use in WHO Member States as from 1994. ICD is currently under revision, through an ongoing Revision Process, and the release date for ICD-11 is 2018.

Yes the legal mandate implementation date was 2015 but as you can see it was in use well before that date :-)

In the clinical field specifically, ICD codes are used and have been used as medical billing codes. Those codes start with an F followed by a number.

The DSM-V codes is what I use as a diagnostic code. Until recently, insurance companies prefer us to us the ICD codes rather than DSM-V.

There are some very strong opinion that are for and against various sexual lifestyles. There are more sexual lifestyles than most ppl know about unfortunately (at least 8). Most I have yet to encounter in my field.

You are so correct when you state you can't imagine what it would feel like to be discriminated against. You could be the smartest kid in your class and the other kids will hate you. You could be the prettiest and get taunted by your peers.

Education is the key. It may not ease the discrimination, however it will bring forth some awareness of various types of ppl and their lifestyles.
