I am no fan of Microsoft but I had no problems switching to W10 from XP.
I do a lot of low-level systems programming and switching was painless (other than one failing, obscure MS utility for which nobody can seem to suggest a solution).

No problem switching from one OS to another ( wish you could buy a new laptop with Linux grumble )

It's the big brother syndrome...I guess . ohwell

There are several ways to get around the sneaky monitoring software, but hackers released a program over on Reddit that effectively takes out all of Windows 10's little gems of malware and adware quite nicely. You'll just have to look for it.

Long live the hacker. =)

I do indeed, but I don't want to get kicked off of here for teaching you all how to do something possibly illegal to your computers, against Microsoft's orders. =P

Read the rules, Moe. =)

When Microsoft announces that 7 is EOl, that's when Ubuntu, or Mint will become my primary OS...

I looked into windows 10....no thanks, can't turn off auto-updates(unless you pay pro version, and do it through group policy),

There was a security analysis that went through and disabled all revoked rights to all the monitoring software, but for good measure he did a network packet capture to see what his computer was doing, turns out even with everything off, the computer was still 'phoning home' to multiple IP addresses in Micro's domain, too the tune of 100's of times an hour.....No thanks.

As a network engineer/security analyst myself I could go through and block/disable these ports/IPs/particular protocols, or even by a third-party device that would allow me deep-packet inspection and do it that way....but I do that at work, and I'm paid for it. I'm not going to put the same effort into my home, just so my network is clean....Ubuntu/Mint easier, faster, and I know will not be EOL for a long, long, long time. Just my opinion though.

We are sticking with what we have for now was told by the time there is no support for what we have it will be time for us to get new computers anyway then we will switch over at work...

Have heard lots of good and bad stuff about Windows 10 some have issues some had none at all..

It is no longer free to switch over anymore~~So those that choose to now will have to pay for it..

drinker WIN7 is still officially supported till 2020, and even after that it will keep running well enough. Just make sure your AV is a good one and there shouldn't be any problem.

Tried Win10, was buggy and unstable, so switched back to 7.

But once you "try" 10 it leaves all kinds of S#$t on there. I had to wipe it all out and start with fresh install of Win8.
