What I don't quite understand still is, why on earth would anyone break into a house and risk getting shot up something fierce? every home is pretty much guarded by heavy firepower but they're stealing stupid laptops and crap from regular folks anyways?

I support protecting your home any way you fell necessary, what I don't support is carrying that piece out on the streets.

I would prefer to see open carry. If every law abiding citizen open carried . Criminals might just think twice before pulling any stupid crap out in public. I think it would be safer.

I guess the Thugs would be eternally grateful if Firearms were only allowed in the Home, and all the rest of the Country became one giant Gunfree-Zone!

Sir, what do you have in your wallet that is so precious that your life depends on it.... you have Squat in there, that's what.

I tell you, pull a gun on me, I'll ask what you need, my shirt? My shoes? oh ok, here's my watch if you want it, no worries I'll get another.

I disagree, the Dallas shootings prove this, no one knows who's who when bullets are flying = More dangerous

I think if more law abiding citizens had had guns, less would have died

I stated my position on guns a few times, I don't have one but don't begrudge any law abiding citizen to own one.

It is their right

But one thing I don't understand. I just moved to Fl. and the rule here is you can ( as long as it is registered and you are licensed to) have a concealed gun... not a gun out in the open, as in sidearm.

I would think that to be backwards.

If the bad guy sees that you are carrying a gun wouldn't that be a deterrent?

One thing is for sure, I don't flip the "bird" out there on the roads much down here when I get cut off...don't know who's armed ;)

I agree but need concealed licensing too. The reason for the law is some citizens carry in glove compartment. Or in a holster covered by a shirt in this instance it is concealed. The first thing a concealed weapons carrier does is notify and police officer detaining them that they are armed and where the weapon is located along with license. If a licensed concealed permit carrier does not do this, they immediately lose their right to carry a concealed weapon.

You may be right but I prefer to think that not everybody wants to kill me for no reason, your "you need to get out more" is comical and I'll spare you my life experiences... this time.

Your angle of marauding gangs of murderers wouldn't apply to me, we're on different schedules I guess? spock

Believe it or not, I think I have a greater psychological impact with this, then I do with my 9 mm.

And trust me, it's just as effective.

It's kinda funny...I don't have a lot of nice things to say about my hometown..but I do like the relatively low crime rate..I really believe it is low in part because 90% of us own and possess firearms..the respect we have for guns is one reason why we can sleep with the windows open...odds are if you break in any where..odds are there is someone waiting with their guns loaded and ready..yup..I do love the piece of mind ..:thumbsup:flowerforyou

guns? no..... BUT......

I'm tired of the idiots that get a hold of them and do iconic level stupid schitt with them.

My thoughts exactly...
I own guns some for personal protection from two legged predators and a shotgun for the 4 legged kind when camping.
I own rifles for hunting
I am responsible for my guns and have no intentions of giving them up.

Yep. people that want to give guns up either live in a wonderful area, (but don't speak of this too loudly, as MS 13 and other bangers are always looking for new victims in unprotected cities) and haven't been touched by, or had to deal with crime "yet" and don't think it could "happen to them", (yet rapes are 80% people you know, so at least carry mace) and other crimes can happen anywhere when one isn't street-wise, as that may be during travel to an area that's unfamiliar, even in a "good" area of town...

If one gives up rights to self protection, from any weapons, include themselves only! don't strip everyone's rights. It should ALWAYS BE AN INDIVIDUAL CHOICE.

and lets say they get rid of all guns in population.... then...ONLY CRIMINALS WILL HAVE THEM! FACT.

THEY ARE NOT GONNA GIVE THOSE STOLEN WEAPONS UP FOLKS...

only a complete moron would believe hard criminals are of their word...

or these people against guns.... they need to go up to each and every criminal, UNARMED, and forcibly take the guns out of their cold dead hands. (because of-course, they killed them with their bare hands) since no guns are allowed n all...

or..................hey................... just scream...Hey...don't do that.... see if that does any good.... because the police are 40 minutes away in New Orleans, (and they are 2 blocks away) and things are done and finished in 20 seconds.

Unfortunately speaking from experience:
Yes, I held a guy down for close to 40 minutes on St Louis St. & Chartres St. that was terrorizing people because he was off his meds. It took them that long to get there, and they were on Bienville St. 2 blocks away. I was starting to get tired... They were leisurely walking up to me!spock surprised laugh

Before that, People were also screaming "hey! don't do that" to try to stop this guy while on his rampage... and HELP! Police! And... they were all running away too... what's with that? Oh that's right... no self defense of any kind! Go to a mean city without doing homework can leave you dead.

How to Win Any Fight Without Training

I recommend this highly if you haven't the time or discipline to train.

taking (all) guns would be dumb, I rarely hear anyone put forth that argument

insisting people 'need' guns is equally dumb, I know plenty who never held one and lived long prosperous lives

respect, consideration, and alertness go a long way towards safety

be aware of your surroundings and your situation, show respect to others, and be considerate of others space

a gun in any situation increases the chance of it being fatal,,,so if you own them make sure you are very well trained in their maintenance and use and control your own paranoias and stereotypes and all should be fine,,,

Having an iPhone increases your chamce of being robbed.....

using an iphone increases your chamce of killing someone else, or yourself(texting kills more every year than guns)

We should ban iphones as they pose a grwt risk to peoples safety amd welfare

noone proposed a ban on guns,,,so Im not sure why the response

texts dont kill people either , its physically impossible

texting can distract people while doing OTHER things that can kill, like crossing the street or driving

and driving while texting has been outlawed in many places
