It depends. Having been married to someone who was periodically prone to very nasty delusions, giving her the ability to sign on to my computer and buy things in my name, or send emails to my place of work as though it's me, isn't a good thing.
Until I went through that, I too would have said yes to this, because I know that I would never abuse the knowledge. |

Happy to hear Rains. That you're free, with no secrets in your relationship.

I think it's better to have a joint account that is shared, along with that password, but if a user has their own account, then that password is theirs...
The issue to me is not so much is the password shared but is the information behind the password shared which is a bigger issue in my book. And this carries from social to financial to email etc. But work account are never shared, work is work and does not include the spouse, unless you both own the business. My two cents... |

I second that .. |

I don't have a problem because I have nothing to hide.
If he wants I would gladly give it to him. Being open and honest in a relationship is the best way to go. |

If that happened he would be kicked to the curb. That is abusing the trust thing. |

Well some passwords are shareable and some are not so accordingly I have a book which contains those shareable passwords which she has total access to read and use. I never ask her passwords because it is none of my business.

QUOTE: How do you feel about sharing your password with your partner? Depends on my partner. Depends on what I know about them. Some people have problems with self control. I mean I've dated people that had debt issues, and women that were kinda shopaholics. I wouldn't just willy nilly share passwords to certain bank accounts or retirement funds with them, even if married, any more than I would fully stock a liquor cabinet and put it next to her nightstand. For important passwords and things I would keep an envelope with passwords and keys for them in case of my death. With a lawyer, or in a safe, or in a safety deposit box, they can access on my death. I'm not foolish enough (I hope) to believe I can imagine my ideal partner as perfect with nothing but good intentions and no personality whatsoever except altruistic advancement of my happiness and peace of mind. So, it depends on the partner. I wouldn't have some kind of ceremony with incense, candles, Dido playing in the background, and flower petals scattered about so we could have a "talk" about sharing passwords as the next "Step" in the relationship. |
