This week I received a beautiful necklace from a guy I dated for 2 months during the summer. (He took a tiny bird point arrowhead that we had found along the river to a goldsmith, had it mounted and put on a fine gold chain.) Along with this necklace he sent a letter, which in part states that I:

"am an awesome person...was the best lover he has ever had and one of the best companions a man could ever ask for." He goes on to say that he has never had so much fun with life in general as he had with me.

OK...my question...
If you find 'the one' that is 'all that'^^^^^...then why would you break it off and settle for anything less?

We had no probelms communicating, or so I thought. We talked about anything and everything. I thought I was doing pretty good getting on with my life until the tiny package & letter arrived. frown sad

Kind of sounds like he doesn't really know what he wants.....which in turn could end up with you getting jerked around! If it were me I would be very careful w/ my heart....flowerforyou

after receiving the package I emailed him, thanking him and asking why he would settle for anything less...I mean don't we all want the best for ourselves, whatever THAT may be? I felt a phone call wouldn't be the route to take as I would have ended up crying. Anyway, he didn't responde to my email. frown

It's a tough place to be in Shutterbug......that place of pulling in two directions.
I know its hard to wrap the mind around someone else's indecision.
I have been there and done that....It aint fun.
Try not to rationalize too much till you get an answer....then be very careful.

Hard to tell with just this to go on, but it really sounds to me like you're getting jerked around by someone who is either very mean spirited or very confused... or both.

Sounds like he has a low opinion of himself and may feel he doesn't measure up... to your fabulous self

1. He didn't respond yet to the email.

2. Any borderline issues? I love you, I hate you, Come here, Go Away. My last gf did that to me all the time and her sister was the one that told me that I was her greatest lover ever (according to their conversations) and that I'm warm and kind and funny. (I knew this already as this is me). Honestly, with borderline people, it doesn't matter HOW good you are to a person they will break up with you. The only good thing is when it's over you can be proud of yourself.

3. I wouldn't call and I wouldn't even ask why they gave it up. Why? Cause they will come back and tell you if they can't get over you. Then you have to assess the potential it will happen again... Ohhhhh I've grown so much since we've been apart... Uhhhhh not always. I think I would just send an email with the word, "?" . Then see what happens.

4. Sorry to hear about the broken heart. You faired better than me. I had 2.5 years and then the broken heart.

Respectfully,

John

who knows when panic will set in
these things do take time and if t all went really fast maybe he needs some time to chill before he goes on to make it longer
good luck no matter what you do
