I'm the type where smiling back doesn't come naturally .I'll have to picture one in a really stupid outfit or them walking into something or tripping. Now bc of my scowl look, the girlfriends I've had have had the infamous "resting bltch face" and usually turn out to have a laundry list of personal problems like myself lol

I smile back for a very short amount of time.

I smile back and then think wow,there are nice people in the world.

I tend to have the kind of scowl look normally too.
When people smile at me, I tend to think "wow, I must've been putting off the pissed off and mad about it look." Sometimes I smile back if it occurs to me in time.

Depends.

If it's a guy I nod at them.

If it's a guy and he's giving me an interview or I'm buying something from him I smile back.

If it's a girl and I find her attractive, I smile back.

If it's a girl and I don't find her attractive, I nod at her or just turn the corners of my mouth up in a semblance of a smile.

If it's a kid I make a funny face, wave, or smile back.

If it's some stranger with a knife standing over me in the middle of the night waking me up then I ninja kick the knife into the ceiling then Jason Bourne them through the house for 5 minutes then pee on their fresh corpse to mark my kill. Or get stabbed to death. Or get a piece of midnight cake.
I don't know, no on has ever stood over me with a knife and smiled at me while I was sleeping so I'm speculating.
