As with so many things, Trump's people have NOT "overturned gay rights."

All they've done is to remove a lot of the elements of the previous administrations' website, and started a fresh page. That included all the website stuff having to do with LGBT or whatever it is.

As with the ACA, so far, no ACTUAL changes to anything has taken place. Just the trappings. The decorative posters, so to speak.
One other thing has been removed even before Trump stepped in, and that would be the racist picture of cops illustrated as pigs harrasing black people hanging in our Capitol building(what a shame that was) It should never have been hung in there in the first place.I'm sure the same 1/3 of congress that boycotted the inauguation are saddened they cant pay homage to that obscene picture every morning.

been a while since I visited the capitol

are we speaking about a HISTORICAL civil rights account? IF so, those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. I think the point is not to pay 'homage' to the NEGATIVE parts of history but to make sure and REMEMBER the ability in our history for people to come together, damn the risks.

things have went to far. That was just pure rebellion. I am glad someone finally took it down.

As a Vet maybe I am old fashion but I am so tired of seeing the American Flag disgraced. Am I imagining things or did it used to be a crime to do anything you want with the flag? I hope Trump can change that.

the issue is that there is no singular 'american flag', it has become another product, something manufactured and sold, so people cant be penalized once they use THEIR money to OWN something in doing what they want with it IF they are not threatening anyone else

not sure about their is No singular American Flag. I thought it was a symbol of America. I do not remember it when growing up it being used as anything but respect. Like Half Masked. A symbol of mourning. I it used to be at least when it was raised or lowered their was respect in how you fold it. It is offered to the fallens family as a rememberence of gratitude and honor. Other countries burn it to show their hate towards America. Every country has one. Its your identity. People are disgusted at the confederate flag. It seems to mean something to many. If it is just a Product then apparently it means more than the stars and stripes.

by singular I mean a unique and specific object, like THE WHITE HOUSE, or THE WASHINGTON MONUMENT or THE STATUE OF LIBERTY

all these things are symbols and actual singular things

the flag is a symbol that is not a singular object, but a mass produced and sold symbol,, therefore, because individuals pay their money to own that product,, they can do as they wish with it if it does not endanger others

The problems legally arise when there is a product paid for by taxpayers in a region or county or city,,,,,etc,, then the public has a say in how that product is treated and maintained,,,,,

otherwise, so long as its sold as merchandise to individuals, it becomes their property alone and they decide how they want to use it or treat it

I see what you are saying. Like I said I guess I am old fashion. I grew up you respected the flag period. It did not matter who made it.

oh, I agree. There are alot of things I grew up learning we should do. Like respecting elders and parents, but I wouldn't want to criminalize their disrespect either.

Each person is different, some people had horrible parents, and abusive elders that lost 'respect'. Which would make my perspective foreign to them.

But I understand. Even as a christian, I am raised not to use blasphemy or be careless with the bible. It sickens me when people do either.

and some people overcame great tragedy, abuse, or loss in their lives , or maybe they just were treated terribly by 'christians. That would also give them rightful cause to have a different perception about that symbol.

That's why just don't think it rises to being criminal, because not everyones experiences cause them to get the same meaning of a 'symbol'.
