Topic: Just out of curiosity......(moderators)

During my time as a member of M2, whilst negotiating my way around the myriad of scammers I've seen many varied topics discussed. Current affairs, the rating of profiles, advice sort and given, etc, etc, etc. All of these forum conversations moderated to the best of their abilities by the team of moderators. I believe it is their duty to see that everyone is respectful of each other and to maintain order. Now, I've noticed that issues of race seem to repeatedly come up within the forums and these threads often get quite heated. Often resulting in moderation or complete deletion of the thread.

With this in mind, a thought came to me as to who the members of the moderation team were. Now I could be mistaken but at present, there seems to be none listing themselves as Black/African ethnicity. So a few more questions come to mind;

a) How many moderators does this site currently have?
b) How many of the team are still regularly performing their duties as moderators?
c) How are moderators selected?
d) How do they deem what is appropriate/inappropriate?
e) In the hope of providing fair representation should not M2 endeavour to maintain a more multi-cultural mix amongst its team of moderators?

These questions may have been asked before elsewhere but I as yet have not been able to find definitive answers.

Moderators come and go. As a retired mod, I know mods have separate rules to follow as well as the main rules and uphold them. All mods, in my time here, are perfectly capable of moderating the forums fairly regardless of race, religion, gender, etc. It is a thankless job. Mods are volunteers

Why should they be? Mods are volunteers and their performance in the forums (no warnings etc) help make them volunteers. There are forum rules. If something gets out of hand, it is usually locked up. Common sense. Everything is logged and account for.

Does a customer go to a business and actually expect these answers from them? I have never seen these questions asked before. There is a topic here that is updated with current mods

I sold cars once, and an older black couple was walking in the lot, looking around... A white salesman went to them to sell them a car... As he approached the couple, the couple balked and says " we would prefer a black salesman, please"... the salesman said back "no problem, I would prefer a white customer... " guess which one got fired..

If you're so stuck on sticking race thing ours this, then you can always apply to be a mod, then that way mingle can have a quota of non whites to make you happy...

Yep...anyone can volunteer. They will look at the mod logs and decide. They don't look at racem, gender, religion, etc. We have had non-whites as mods btw. Regardless of race, people can be fair and here, everything ia logged and mods are at a higher standard than members and will get called on it

Where did I say that? Please show me. I said mods are at a higher standard. They have to be impartial and enforce the rules. I never said anything about intelligence. Don't twist my words.

So you assumed? As I said before, not only do mods have to follow the rules of the forums but have additional rules to follow. They are held accountable for any actions and have to remain unbiased.

Again everything is logged and up for review any time. Members can email Mark or whoever if they question an action. Been this way this whole time
