I was musing about this yesterday afternoon, after reading Griffin's abject apology.

These times are the most bizarre I have ever seen in this country, and that includes the nightmarish mess of the civil rights protest/ anti Vietnam protest / violent criminal poisoned politics of the 1960s and 70's. Back then, although the entire country was convulsed by violence, most of the top leadership on both sides, still realized that behaving carefully and calmly was what was always needed.

Now, the entire leadership of both major parties is hiding in back rooms, while their various front people are making wildly exaggerated accusations about each other, blatantly lying about each other, involving even the national courts system in their emotion-guided political manipulations.

I've seen this kind of thing before. The reason WHY someone of Griffin's stature could come to have participated in something as ill advised as this, is because the overall political climate is straight up insane. That doesn' excuse what she did, mind you, it only explains why her and the photographer's judgement was so poor.

It's very much like the sort of thing you see at drunken parties, where one after another, guests perform increasingly gross and unpleasant stunts, everyone urging everyone else to be more wild, until someone urinates on the host as a joke, or sets fire to the house as a form of artistic expression.

And right now, there is no one in leadership in the US anywhere, especially in the top offices, who are standing up to BOTH SIDES, and calling for civility. Until that starts happening, we're going to see more and more of this kind of offensive nonsense.

FFS no one is taking away the 1st amendment. There are exception even to the 1st amendment. She posted to the public and the public responded. The responses are 1st amendment too. I don't care who it is towards...it's vile. They hung Obama in effigy, burned Bush in effigy....none of it is ok. That is crossing the line regardless of who is saying it or who it is towards.

Use a public platform and the public has a right to speak

I did not see what she did I did see the pic above.. I don't watch her anyway but what she did was in the poorest of taste no matter who it would have been about... Specially with all the be-headings that was happening at one time.. That is nothing to laugh about... pretty sick joke that totally back-fired on her~~ Karma at it's best~~
