I hope I'm putting this in the right place. This came up on another forum, another site last night. I thought I would bring it here for discussion.

This could be either gender. Man or woman. For whatever reason, You are not attracted to very many of the opposite gender. But, you're not gay or lesbian either. When you date you would rather date the opposite sex. But you just don't find many that you are attracted to. Or, that really interest you that much. You would rather not be alone so much. But, because you are not attracted to most of what you see, you are alone a lot.

Remember, This hypothetical person isn't gay or lesbian. What name does that fall under? Or, is there a name for it?

A name for it? Not knowing what you want tongue2
When you know what to want, what matches you, and you invest time in it -as in making sure you go places where you can meet people or spend time on dating sites- you will meet someone.
But if you don't put in the time and effort, or don't know what you want and are just throwing stuff at the wall hoping something will stick, you will get disappointed time and again. Then end up saying "I can't find what I want."
I say BS.
It also takes understanding that if you want a 'real' man/woman you have to be a 'real' woman/man yourself.

Basically what fits here;
- you attract what you are and/or exude. So if you cannot find what interests you, you may want to spend some time on building persona?
- dating is the best mirror there is... as soon as you change, you will get different (better) results.

But you just don't find many that you are attracted to.

What name does that fall under?

Selective
Intelligent
Wise
Unsociable
Isolated
Preferential

There's around seven and a half billion human beings on this planet. Roughly half of them are the opposite sex. That's around 3.75 billion.

Just because there is a large pool to choose from doesn't mean there is anything wrong with not choosing a majority of the available.

Everyone is a unique person and has unique qualifications they set on those they choose to associate with. Its a personal choice and is not up for debate because everyone has their own criteria.

Research Healthy Self-Esteem and you might find the answers you seek.

I had to think about this, what a great Question for all Humans! I have pondered for a while and chose to dig deep into this conversation:

YOU SAID: [This could be either gender]. (63 Genders in the USA)2017. Gender Master List one can look it up! Read the list and identify with one or more of them.

If the total number of colors we can see is about 1000 x 100 x 100 = 10,000,000 (10 million). And if there are 24 human skin colors on earth that PEOPLE have created to identify between colors to put into a category

The eye color. Irises are classified as being one of six colors: amber, blue, brown, gray, green, hazel, or red. Often confused with hazel eyes, amber eyes tend to be a solid golden or copper color without flecks of blue or green typical of hazel eyes.

The hair color. A (very light blond), B to E (light blond), F to L (blond), M to O (dark blond), P to T (light brown to brown), U to Y (dark brown/black) and Roman numerals I to IV (red) and V to VI (red blond)

So now we have 24 human race colors and 63 human race genders in the United States of America. This does not mean in your town or city. just in the USA? or the World. Yet the human race only has 6 eye color to choose from int he World. Along with 8 types of hair colors.

Yet Humans have 3 types of organs and 12 types throughout the planet species.

400 types of scent receptors that can detect at least 1 trillion different odors.

Last, there are only three basic human body types: the endomorph, the mesomorph, and the ectomorph.

And only ONE HUMAN SPECIES: Male or female.

In the World: Heterosexual 93.4%/ Gay-lesbian 1.2%/ Bisexual 0.8%/ Other 0.5%/ Don't know 4.1%.

YOU SAID: For whatever reason, many are not attracted to very many of the opposite genders. But, many are not gay or lesbian either.

Perhaps one has an idea embedded into the image of one's eyes: Because of TV, Music, Magazines, Computers etc. We ourselves have created a vision only we can understand. We think that image is what we should act on yet we go for a completely different person? Why?

Who we like is not the same as who they like, We like them but do they like us? it goes back to early friendships. Ask yourself what kind of friends did you have as a child and then look at the people you date today. Who you are attracted to. 99.9% they are related in an image you seek but can't find. Because every human on earth is different.

YOU SAID: When people date they would rather date the opposite sex. But they just don't find many that they are attracted to. Or, that really interest them that much.

The reason is they seek out the past and themselves, they want someone to like everything they like, to live just like they live and to eat what they eat, to drink what they drink and to have relations the way they want to feel.

three persons (points of view)

1st person - the one(s) speaking (I/me/my/mine/we/us/our-ours)
2nd person - the one(s) spoken to(you/ your/ yours)
3rd person - the one(s) spoken about(he/him/his/she/her-hers it/its/they/their/theirs). Start to notice how many times you use these words in a day, you will find out the truth about yourself!

YOU SAID: A person would rather not be alone so much. But, because some people are not attracted to most of what they see, most are alone a lot! The eyes are the gateway to HELL or HEVAN they say you can see another person's soul. But if that person does not look deep enough or care enough to look then they only see an image and a figure or color of skin, hair or eyes worst of all a size. (superficial person)

YOU SAID: Remember, This hypothetical person isn't gay or lesbian. What name does that fall under? Or, is there a name for it?

Yes, they are called "A" Sexual. They do not look at sex- gender, but as an individual person, they do not judge for they do not want to be judged back in return, they are beyond the color of nature and the substance one places on a statistic to group other people.

So why is it so hard for a human being to find a mate, a partner, a soulmate, a friend, a companion the list is long.

EYES: The eyes, if you were blind you would not see a person but hear only a voice you could not judge by looks, you could touch but again you can not see the skin only feel it. if you were blind and deaf you could not see or hear but you are more likely to accept a person who is being kind to you. With a scent of smell you know if they are clean or dirty person.

The eyes deceive you 99,9% of the time, When a young man is in grade school he sees the girl he likes, by middle school he tries to date the girl he likes, in H.S. he dates the girl and in college he marrieds the same girl. These days are gone they do not exist.

Today on average a boy will have dated (14.1%)more then girls(8.8%) The boys have had eight or more girlfriend before they get out of High School. in College (21.7%)more then girls (12.3%).

Confidence in gender has changed. Boys can have Both Sex's and Girls have also found they don't have to be afraid to have both sexes.

The world has changed since the 1960's Equal Gender.

So the great news is this, YOU can DATE anyone YOU chose to date, they might not choose you, but you can find a person in your town, or city or state to date, or marry. That is GREAT NEWS! Stop using your eyes! Start using your heart!

63 Genders in the USA

Sorry to inform you all but there are only TWO genders.
Male and Female

There are genteic mutations, but they are the Exception not the rule.

In nature there are 4 genders (Not applicable to the human species)
There is male
There is female
There is Asexual
and
Non-sexual Drones

Gender is specific to reproductive function.

Confidence in gender has changed. Boys can have Both Sex's and Girls have also found they don't have to be afraid to have both sexes.

If anyone is not sure which gender they are just look down between your legs.

One type is there to inject sperm and the other type is there to catch and use the sperm.

Delusional thinking does not change reality, only the concept of which reality is chosen to believe. Reality doesn't care what anyone believes, it just is.

Most common gender mutation disorders causing humans not to be attracted to other humans unless they have a disorder of empathy, compassion, and consideration for all humankind.

Humans must be able to sense a mutation in another person then. But for some, they overlook this disorder and choose to love and adore the human without a thought leaving behind only concern for that one individual. perhaps the statement (Death do us apart) was for a reason to love and accept changing behaviors or mutations.

P – Point mutation, or any insertion/deletion entirely inside one gene
D – Deletion of a gene or genes
C – Whole chromosome extra, missing, or both (see Chromosome abnormality)
T – Trinucleotide repeat disorders: gene is extended in length

Disorder Mutation Chromosome
22q11.2 deletion syndrome D 22q
Angelman syndrome DCP 15
Canavan disease 17p
Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease
Color blindness P X
Cri du chat D 5
Cystic fibrosis P 7q
Down syndrome C 21
Duchenne muscular dystrophy D Xp
Familial Hypercholesterolemia P
Haemochromatosis P 6
Haemophilia P X
Klinefelter syndrome C X
Neurofibromatosis 17q/22q/?
Phenylketonuria P 12q
Polycystic kidney disease P 16 (PKD1) or 4 (PKD2)
Prader–Willi syndrome DC 15
Sickle-cell disease P 11p
Spinal muscular atrophy DP 5q
Tay–Sachs disease P 15
Turner syndrome C X

You can look up the list of List of genetic disorders to see if you or others you have dated are on it, then look up your disorders.

you will see that you are both human, and in the end it is Compassion, Empathy, and Kindness that brought you both together.

When the eyes are determined by genetics w2ithin this region, there are two genes located very close together: OCA2 and HERC2.

HERC2 gene known as intron 86 contains a segment of DNA that controls the activity (expression) of the OCA2 gene, turning it on or off as needed. Or you can say, My eyes say I like you or love you? or you can say my eyes say, I am not attracted to you and never will be.

The good news is this Look at how many types of eyes one is at least going to find you attractive: Genes with reported roles in eye color include ASIP, IRF4, SLC24A4, SLC24A5, SLC45A2, TPCN2, TYR, and TYRP1.

Once science can figure that out we will all be matched and all will be happy and joyful you might think but you also have to deal with smells. That could turn it upside down. You have 400 smells so you can say you have 1 to 400 chances of finding a partner you can feel attracted too.

The human is so complicated and yet so simple if it was blind! Def and unopinionated.

I guess I am old fashioned.
Men were men and women were women and life is really simple.
No wonder so many people are stressed out anymore.

People should stand out from the deeds they do not their own opinions of themselves.

In this sense, I am alone because I am not deluded.
I have no desire to fit in with society's delusions.
Finding a woman that has a similar notion in today's world is nearly impossible.
I keep looking tho.
Success will be 'Oh So Sweet'.

I was born as a gift,
had fun as a teenager
became a woman
chose to be a stay at home wife
learned to be a stay at home mother,
cried to be an ex-wife
mourned the death of my parents.
Found courage to be a single parent
prayed to be a stay at home grandmother.
mourned the death of my siblings
look forward to being a senior
to find my last love
one day i will be a memory.

The world was so simple in the 60, 70, and 80, but then it changed so many rules, so many laws one million votes for every issue that sits on a table to be passed with women holding seats in the United States Congress, comprising 19.6% of the 535 members; 21 women (21%) serve in the United States. It used to be 100% members were men.

I guess I am old-fashioned.
Men were men with secrets in the night, with a secretary on the side. and women were women they stayed home and cooked and cleaned took care of all the children and neighbor kids. and life was really simple for men, while women looked beautiful with hourglass figures.
No wonder so many people are stressed out dreaming of a past that will not exist in 10years.

Today, a husband sleeps in a different room then a wife and they all live on mobile devices with secrets, no words are spoke in a house, no kitchen table for a meal fast food replaced that. The house is filled with wires and electronics no couch only a chair. each person has a different meal plan and hunting for Pokemon is a daily exercising.

How lonely a family has become, how lonely kids have become how lonely a home that sits waiting to be "home sweet home".

You would rather not be alone so much. But, because you are not attracted to most of what you see, you are alone a lot.

This hypothetical person isn't gay or lesbian. What name does that fall under? Or, is there a name for it?

Based on the information provided the term for that is: "picky?"

Change the hypothetical to food.
"You would rather not be hungry so much. But, because you really don't want to eat most of what you see, you are hungry a lot."

"Picky" is about the best term you'll find.

The OP doesn't provide enough meaningful information.

Might as well ask: "This hypothetical person isn't dead, or hospitalized. But they see a doctor and say 'I don't feel bad, but I don't feel good. What is the medical term for what I have?"

are not attracted to very many of the opposite gender.

Why is that believed?
Was it different at some point in their life? When did it change?
What is the age of the hypothetical person?
What kind of experience do they have?
Do they have a lot of friends? Or live like a hermit?
Do they have any kids or marriages?
What do they do most of the time?
How do they see themselves and their attractiveness? Positive? Negative? Neutral? Extreme?

When you date...

How often do they date?
For all I know this "hypothetical person" dates twice the national average, spends all day watching porn and NBC 90's sitcoms so thinks they should be constantly dating while spending every moment with a model looking "just friend" before realizing "true love" is right in front of them.

What a person is attracted can be very fluid I think. I have a preference for tall guys now but 5 years ago , height was nowhere in my realm of thinking.

Thr more people you meet and feel chemistry with is the more my concept of attraction expands.

As for what you call a heterosexual who doesnt feel attracted to many people? I would call it selective.

You cant force attraction. It happens when it happens

Could it fall under this? I took this in part from the other forum. I think Tom hit it pretty close.

Sorry to inform you all but there are only TWO genders.

In nature, there are 4 genders (Not applicable to the human species)
There is male

People who identify as asexual don’t really feel sexual attraction towards anyone. They may think other people are physically attractive, or they may want to be in romantic relationships with people — but they’re not interested in having sex or doing sexual things with other people. Asexual people sometimes use the word “ace” for short.

Asexuality has nothing to do with romantic attraction. Many asexual people feel romantically attracted to people — so they may identify as asexual, and also as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or straight. They just don’t feel any desire to act on these feelings in a sexual way.

Asexual people have emotional needs just like everyone else. Some asexual people have romantic relationships, and others aren’t interested in that. They get close to people or experience intimacy through ways other than sex.

There are also people who don’t feel romantic attraction or want to be in romantic relationships — they may identify as aromantic. Being aromantic and being asexual are two separate things.

Some asexual people do get aroused (turned on), but they don’t feel the desire to be sexual with other people. And some asexual people masturbate. But others may not feel arousal at all.

It’s totally normal to go through times when you don’t want to have sex, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re asexual. And asexuality is not the same thing as being celibate. Celibacy is a choice you make, and asexuality is a sexual identity — who you naturally are.

Like other sexual orientations, asexuality isn’t always black and white. There’s a spectrum between being sexual (having sexual attraction) and being asexual. Different people fall into different places on that spectrum. Some people who have very little sexual attraction to other people identify as gray-a. Some people who are only sexually attracted to people they’re in relationships with identity as demisexual. Want to know how someone identifies? Ask them.

There is nothing “wrong” with people who are asexual, and there’s no evidence to support that people are asexual because of any kind of mental health or trauma. It’s actually kind of common — some research says that 1 out of 100 adults is asexual.
