I can't something like this bother me.

Oh, hello. I am back to working a lot so you won't see much of me on here!

Yup I take a strong exception to unwanted assignment of such pronouns, a display of uncalled for familiarity!

I can't let something like this bother me.
I agree it ought not to be a bother, but we have to live & learn on these things first. I've been taken in by a couple of recent matches that I thought looked quite promising with their baby-ing, dear-ing, hun-ing etc. only discovering after putting a lot of my time, hopes and dreams into them that they were basically just leading up to requests for financial loans. Suppose I must have been quite naïve to have been fooled by their sweet-talk, but I've ended up sad and disillusioned by the resulting heartache.

I get it, when someone says anything endearing when they don't know me. However, it is an apportunity to tell them by asking them am I, correcting them or anything to that effect. Personally I know so much more about them by how they respond. Sometimes people think they need to say one thing or another giving them the benefit of the doubt is understanding. If they repeat it, not talking to them is wisdom.

It depends on who the person is.. if it's from the person that I like or if it's from the person who treats me with respect.. that's okay :blush::blush:

If I don't like the person or if the person is just playing.. I hate it..:grin::grin:

good thinking

In my experience it is usually used by women who are trying to endear themselves and set you up for a scam, almost always is followed by requests for money. Being widowed makes us a target for them.

When someone you don't know or barely know assigns you a pet name or endearment, does get under your skin?

I'm not talking about when an elderly person refers to you as Dear...probably because they've forgotten your name.

I'm not talking about the lady at the register or DMV who calls everyone Sugar...probably to avoid using the word Ma'am.

To me Baby, Sugar, Sweetheart and Darling, and the like, are endearments reserved for family, dearest friends and intimate partners. I guess to me their use is more of a right to be earned.

What say you?

I completely agree with you
