If your heart says yes but your mind says no therefore going against what you think, does this make you a crazy person? Like for example your mind says he can’t possibly be in love with you coz he doesn’t know you, the physical you therefore he won’t be and can’t be with you. But then you hear him say it and your heart goes a mile a minute. Forget about the mind , the mind ruins the happy hormones lol what am I saying? Well I guess my question would be do you guys feel this way and think this way therefore making you go the extra mile? Or it’s just us crazy girlsslaphead

OK SSM, (putting aside usual flippancy) I have done this. 1st, despite all the idealistic cliches' LDR is just HARD!
It has never started (for me) outside of the forums. It starts with similar views, senses of humor, and certain je nais se quoi of banter. Then emails, commonality of likes/dislikes/values....and ease of conversation....

.....phone calls, video chat, logistics, finances, time off of work, commitment to "making it happen", and all of the intimate "stuff" that people in the same location go through...but with an added insecurity of physical validation.....then a nervous meet at airport (not for security reasons....more like a first date)....

.....all of this while trying to stay grounded in real life yet enjoy the excitement of an incredibly romantic interlude.

I'll just stop here. :)

I wish you did not stop there  was it just a romantic interlude then? If you find yourself in the same situation would you do it again? For the same or different reasons? Pardon my barrage of questions but I am intrigued. Thanks for posting Beach waving:thumbsup:

Honestly I stopped there because it was my personal experience and has no bearing on what anyone else's..is. I have no regrets. Yes I would do it again. I remain friends and in contact with most. I look at the common denominator (myself) and all the caveats I mentioned.

Didn’t mean to intrude sorry. I appreciate your honesty and opinion. I also admire that your experience even if it wasn’t what you hoped for did not tarnish your idea that anything can be possible and that each relationship is different from the rest may it be on line or not. Cheers to you Beach drinker

My apologies SSM. No intrusion at all, have just been trying to keep my words condensed and to the point. It is indeed everyone's own journey. Being careful not to preach my opinion and experience as any kind of fact.

Sorry if my answer sounded short!flowerforyou

No apologies please. It’s rare that we get to see your serious side and how sensitive a man you really are . Thanks Beach

Where do you draw the line between physical desire and a soulful connection?

It would take a lot of money, free time, official paperwork, passports and visas, vaccinations, and either a lot of hope, or complete abandonment to 'whatever happens - happens'.
Not many people can travel on a whim due to work commitments and plan an open ended vacation, just to see an attractive stranger.

Then if you both click, what do you do. More official paperwork, passports and visas and residency issues etc.

If I was rich I might do it. Easier to find a local partner. waving

I understand you will not do it as it takes too much to do it. But if you were in a situation as this long distance love what would it take for you to go the extra mile
