Are there any inexpensive places in North or Central America where it is warm and reasonably safe for winter travel? Was looking at Mexican Pacific coast until I looked at the state department warnings. No travel advised for a number of areas.

Anywhere can be inexpensive when traveling outside the US. Last year I bought airline tickets from Texas to London for less than 500$

I'm not sure where you are comeing from. I was going to suggest texas. Lol but someone beat me to it. frustrated

Anyways it does get cold here in the winter. And as long as you stay around austin and south you should be fine. The hotels are relatively inexpensive to omg. laugh . And there is quite a few things to see around those parts of the staye. shades

The entire Pacific coast is suitable, if you don't
mind a little rain occasionally.

Inexpensive may depend on how you travel, we talking
motorhome? Wal-Marts and Casinos (in Oregon) allow
RV's to park overnight for free.

And Mac's,TacoBell and Burger King all have $ menus :-)

I agree it is important to know here you are coming from.
When it is winter in the Earth's southern hemisphere it is summer in the north and vice versa.
Even if you are from the northern United States, during the winter you have the option of doing a multi-southern state driving tour which allows you to experience a lot of rich culture and see some amazing sights relatively inexpensively.
If you're set on other countries.
You might consider a bungalow on one of the many islands just off the coast in the Pacific and Gulf of Mexico.

Look into Bay Islands, Honduras. I don't think that you'll be able to guarantee safety in that part of the world.

I usually go to south Texas and I probably will this next winter also. I'm looking for something late fall and out of the US. A number of the good places in Mexico are marked as "travel not advised". Going to do some more research on Costa Rica; was also thinking of Aruba but it is expensive.

Costa Rica is nice but Aruba can be a little pricey. Might I suggest the Dominican Republic, very beautiful island but most people are poor. Very nice beach resorts with reasonable rates and good to know that your tips etc are really appreciated and help them out.

Kind of depends on how much you are talking about being reasonable..

Or you could always do cruises where you get to visit some different areas within a week just get a travel buddy due to you pay about the same for one as you do a room for two.. Then you just have to cover your liquor if you drink.. Other wise it's like a all inclusive type thing.. room and food included unless you choose to go to some of the fancier restaurants.. But the regular are just as good that are included..

I've been looking at cruises but that paying for 2 is an issue. Travel buddies are hard to come by. There use to be a website that specialized in finding one, don't see any now. There is a topic on here for that but nobody seems interested.
