Both.

It is a mistake one chooses to make. Many who do either do not care if there are repercussion or believe they won't get caught.

It is not a mistake in the sense of "I didnt mean to do it" or "oops, what do you mean that wasn't you?" .. Sadly it is a mistake many have "forgiven" their lovers for making.

Which makes it a choice, not a mistake.

A mistake is shooting the partner you thought was cheating but wasn't.
A mistake is thinking shooting a cheating partner is worth it.
A mistake is choosing a partner that has the capacity to cheat on you.
A mistake is thinking a partner with that capacity won't.

As I said, it is both.

It is a Mistake one Chooses to make.

I think many of you are thinking along the lines of a mistake deserving forgiveness. That is not what I said. Cheating is an action that is wrong (in my opinion).

Cheating is a mistake that one purposely chooses to make.

Cheating is for fools and cowards.

" I didn't mean to do it " isn't the same as " Oops , what do you mean that wasn't you "

I didn't mean to do it is a choice one makes that isn't a mistake.

Oops , what do you mean that wasn't you? depends on the circumstance, for instance if it was because you witness an action and there was a mistaken identity that is a mistake, having sex with someone other than your partner isn't a mistake its a choice one makes

when choice is involved its not considered a mistake in judgment , unless that person is weak minded.

How can cheating be a mistake?
You accidently tripped and fell on her and as you were getting up you say "oops, here let me make you feel better"?

Is there anyone, anywhere that does not know cheating is wrong?
If so, are they living under a rock?

Cheaters know its wrong.
They know before, during and after the act.
Yet they continue anyway.
That, is not a mistake.

.. Says everything  . Yup, cheating is a choice, but a wrong one. Someone definitely gets hurt sooner or later. Who said something about finding better qualities .. there aren't any .. just an excitement to get to know unknown or desire for a brief pleasure.
Cheating is a conscious act .. committed with the hope of never being caught.

Cheating is the wrong way to go about breaking up. If you have made a commitment to someone, and you feel the need to cheat, you need to reevaluate that relationship.

Or if you are prone to cheating, don't commit to anybody in the first place

Agreed!

Cheating is not only disrespectful it is a betrayal.
If you can even imagine cheating on someone you love, you need to reevaluate that love and your integrity.

Lars you are assuming that cheaters have the moral character to even think about that

THEY DONT, they only think about themselves.
