The military is being paid to protect us. It's our job as parents to support and care for our kids. I have 3 kids and 2 grandkids.

it is our job, it is also our job to protect them, yet we have fire and police to assist in that job dont we? Parents have alot of jobs, doesnt absolve society from giving a damn about the kids when said parents are needing a little help.

I'm paying a lot in property tax. Just got a huge increase. The firemen here are getting a raise out of it and teachers more in their retirement. It was in last week's newspaper. I worked more than 40 hours a week when it was necessary. I gave my daughter her childhood home. She is a couple houses up the street from me. I'm doing my best for my kids.

Here is the problem. While my grandkids were born on tricare south, through their dad's employment, others are being born on medicaid. This is because women are choosing to have kids out of wedlock. It's not my son in laws place to support his kids and someone else's kids.

The problem in society is we need to get the slackers to pay for their kids. Not punish the productive people more.

umm.. Medicaid is not based on marital status.

Dads are dads, REGARDLESS of marital status

so ....

WE do need to get fathers to pay for their kids, and not punish mothers for choosing deadbeats ...

When these women aren't married, dad is a ?, until after birth and DNA test. The child will most likely be on Medicaid until it 18. The dad will most likely be required to pay 20% of his income in child support. That's if he is stable enough to work. Mom will probably stay home till the kid starts prek. Most of her income will come from the tax payer. It's not fair to put an unwanted child on everyone else. Women should be more responsible and use birth control.

Life is not 'fair' sometimes then. I think its more than 'fair' for a so called 'civilized' nation to look after the health and welfare of its citizens, ESPECIALLY kids that cannot for themself.

and unfortunately, we have no way for the government to put everyones tax in a seperate pot with a multiple choice card of which things they feel will be 'fair' to them to pay and which things they dont.

adults should be more responsible and use condoms, but until that happens, and as long as people are free to mate and believe they are mating with the person of their choice, they are going to exercise the freedom to start families together, even if it doesnt END up the way they saw it when it STARTED out.

If my daughter went to apply for benefits she would be required to report 100% of her husband's income. Because dad's don't want these illegitimate kids the mom reports 20%, if she is lucky enough to get that. These people don't have it any tougher. They are choosing to avoid responsibility.....leave it on the tax payers. We need to require these women to work or stop benifit. Take both tax returns to pay back hospital bills.

Dads want their kid because its their kid, marital status or society's label of 'illegitimate' wont matter. As to the dads that dont want their kid, more should be done to have them support them regardless.

people have it ALOT tougher, all over. Parents have alot of 'responsibilities' beyond financial when it comes to kids. Stopping benefits harms the child if it is not replaced with something that they can LIVE on. Its not the answer in a society that values decency.

You are blaming minimum wage for women having children with men who don't want them. A friend of mine got a new grandchild last week. Her son/dad doesn't want to be a family. He is a lineman. $25/$30 an hour. He wouldn't marry the mother. She had the baby on Medicaid.
These women need to stop trying to latch themselves into a man. Men want a woman with a job and a home. Stay at home mom's are very rare these days.

no, but I am declaring the hypocrisy of insisting that being able to make a living wage is not a given, but those who cant also should not have a way to get through for their families.. You dont want taxpayers looking after childrens welfare, but you wont hold employers to wages that allow parents to either.

Men want different women with different things. successful marriages are also rare, but we cant stop tauting their significance quite enough....

women are not mind readers, men should take care of their kids, their choice not to is in NO WAY the fault of the woman or reason to 'punish' her, let alone her children.

No wonder your country is so divided and yet they blame it on Trump

Trump is doing his best to correct the mistakes of the past, but it doesn't happen over night.

I have to laugh when I hear the left tell us that people on welfare deserves to have a life, they deserve this and that, they are entitled to a life on the tax payers expense.

So tell me why they deserve to go on vacation on the tax payers dime?

If anyone deserves or is entitled to tax payers expense vacation is the military vets who served and got their limbs blown off in defense of the country.

by the way , so self respecting man wants to date someone on welfare who believes they are entitled to everything.

Most women with young children on welfare looking to better themselves are not out looking to date anyways, they want out so bad that they are willing to sacrifice personal relationships to get out.

those women we must help, not the loser who expects life to handed to them and they are entitled to have a life at the tax payers expensive

shame on them.

I am not using the word 'entitled' its usually the privileged who wear it like a badge to justify the pedestals they keep themselves on.

I am using the word DECENT. DECENT people in DECENT society would not GRIPE about programs looking after the welfare of those who are less fortunate or needy, and especially not of kids.

I am using the word HEALTHY. Healthy societies understand HUMANS need a balance. All play is not good for structure, and all work is not good for stress and health in general. So yeah, DECENT People would not gripe even when someone poor and on 'taxpayers' dime occasionally does something more than make sure they appear 'poor enough' to be worthy of the 'taxpayer dime'

No self respecting person wants someone with no empathy for anyone else or who sits on a pedestal feeling they are 'more deserving' of others either.

its all a matter of perception.

but please continue with all the ways y'all can find to explain about the inferior mothers popping out kids all alone that they cant take care of all alone, and their deficient characters ..

I have no problem with a wage increase. But I also think people having children should get a job where they will make more and have benefits. Don't have kids until they have done that. Minimum wage jobs are for teenagers living with parents, retired people wanting spending money, or bored house wives.

Id love anti welfare protestors to spend more time with THAT sentiment to get better wages so that all these single parents or deadbeat dad families could EARN whats needed to get by.

Manufacturing jobs pay well but you have to work and almost always requires ot. They are usually almost always hiring.

It's up to the individual to find decent employment. People move for jobs all the time. Atl is expecting large growth during the next few years because people are coming for jobs. It's about personal responsibility.

people in poverty with children do not just 'move' for jobs. It is about responsibility, and reality, and opportunity, and ability, and resources.

I did.
I tried raising/supporting my family in NW Pennsylvania.
Had a degree, 10 years experience, certifications and a substanial toolbox.
I was shackled to public assistance. X couldn't work because we couldn't afford a sitter and I was forced to work as much overtime I gould get, just to pay bills. The jobs available were min wage or just above minimum wage.

I moved to a different location with better paying jobs and was completely off assistance within 3 months doing the same work I was doing in PA.
I went progressively up the finacial ladder for the next 17 years till my body stopped working right.

I made the move without serious research and the specific job I relocated for was not available (an old friend lied to me). I was stuck with a family with no job in a strange land but I didn't give up - I reboubled my efforts and I never saw failure as an option.
It was about responsibility, and reality, and opportunity, and ability, and resources.

Who said life was fair? I want programs that help those who actually need it vs the able bodied loser who chooses to do squat and expect us to pick up the slack.

Are you denying that fraud and abuse dont happen?
Do you know the story about Angel adams and her 15 kids?

fraud exists in every system

it doesnt have squat to do with why welfare is important or why its nonsense to make character assumptions about people based on economic status or attendance to a seminar or ten dollar movie.

or why its insane to place value on human life that is based squarely on such ASSUMPTIONS about character based solely on economic status or attendance to a seminar or ten dollar movie.

But maybe all those needy folks can just strive to get up on the pedestals of all those SUPERIOR TYPES repeating debasing stereotypes about them

so they too can nauseatingly and determinantly remind them of all the ways they could be as worthy and wonderful as the SUPERIOR types if they just emulated their ways .and had better character.

yep laziness is 'scum'

too bad I and no one else knows if someone is 'lazy' when armed with no more information than that they are on assistance or have gone to a movie or a protest.

personally I believe if one is on welfare for more than 5 years there is something wrong.

They are either lazy or inept.

I bet there are posters who were on welfare but they worked their way out of it, I wonder why?

I noticed you avoided answering my original question, should welfare recipients go on vacation on the tax payers dime?

well, at least there are finally qualifiers to work with

I would agree that welfare for a continuous five years would indicate an issue.

most on welfare (SNAP/TANF) are on from anywhere 3 months to four years.

to your question, it depends upon the details, MANY people have other income but get 'taxpayers' dime to make up the different, so if the combination of those two sources can be BUDGETED to splurge for a cheap vacation, why not.
