Yesterday a woman ( part of a group) that was protesting children being separated from Illegal alien parents decided to scale the Statue of Liberty foundation on the 4th of July holiday.

Now, here in the NYC area the 4th of July is a big deal. People from all over the world plan and take their vacations here at this time. They save for the trip and want to be part of the festivities.

On average, 22,000 people visit the Statue of Liberty on the 4th of July. Unfortunatly, because of the actions of one person the Statue of Liberty was shut down and police resources had to be used to get her safely from the statue. It took hours as she laid around up there waving to helicopters and taking cat naps.

But for some, disrupting the plans of 22,000 and putting police in harms way ( not easy to rig rope on the statue) to satisfy your personal views is o.k.

Very uncool.
I think it was more about "look at me , give me attention ", then it was about the cause of protest.

Ridiculous.

I think it just goes to show the mentality of these protesters. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

It was very uncool. So many families had planned on going there. So many tourists too.

She has a long history of protesting.. most anything. A angry person according to neighbors.

It is a federal crime, Which means she spent the night in the Brooklyn house of detention ( courts were closed).. not a pleasant place to be. and she will face both city and federal charges

The city should charge her for the cost of the resources used, which was not small. About 100 cops, helicopters, police boats, fire dept. boats, coast guard.

Because the city had no idea what could happen or if they was others and had to respond in force.

I'm sure if she would have fell and killed herself, the city would be sued for allowing her on the statue.
Then there would be a huge outcry if the city fought the lawsuit.
The NEWS networks would roll out their experts on what should have happened and people would be posting long responses on facebook and twitter would explode.

It really is. Its the " only my views count at all costs" mentality . She ruined peoples vacations and put people in harms way.

You are right. they would be accused of letting it happen in the first place. Accused of not protecting her.. from herself.

If you read up on her she couldn't wait to get here (U.S.A) And all she has been doing since then is complaining and protesting.

Gotta love it

one of the drawbacks to our system... people vote in others that think like themselves, good or bad... majority rules has it's problems sometimes...

Some people don't understand or care but when something like this happens there, 100's of law enforcement personnel scramble because they don't really know what they are up against in this day and age. Not only cops, FBI, ICE, Military, ect.

They have to scramble as there is a possible terrorist situation.. at the statue of liberty.. on the 4th of July.. 20 years ago.. unthinkable.. now... very thinkable

you put these men and women in motion, add in some helicopters and some cops boats speeding to the scene.. bad things can happen, people can get hurt or killed in accidents.

There were a few helicopters up there.. and lower Manhattan is not a easy place to be flying around.

But these people could care less about that...just sit there and wave at the cameras.

Lots of hypocrisy.
Seems perceptions or misunderstandings or whatever of criminal behavior, violence, threats, poor living conditions, have authorities removing children from their parents all the time in the U.S., all perfectly legal citizens.

But making a kid an accessory to a crime, possibly dragging them unsafely through multiple countries, possibly through deadly deserts without enough water, dealing with cartels and coyotes, to be stuck in a detention center with more dangerous criminals and gang members, all with a good chance that kid isn't even theirs...well, that must be in the best interest of the kid.

I think it just goes to show the mentality of these protesters. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

I think it just goes to show the mentality of that one protestor.
The others she was with didn't do the same thing.
I don't think liberalism is a mental disorder.
IMO that makes them less responsible, as though they are victims and can't help it, so deserve pity more than anything.
They could know better if they tried.
They've just emotionally committed to those ideals.

you are right.one story in particular that sticks in my mind was a few months ( I think) ago, a tractor trailer filled.. stuffed with illegals.. kids to.. abandoned in a Wal Mart parking lot somewhere in TX... so people inside.. died. The parents of those kids are to blame.. for putting that kid in harms way to begin with.

But the bleeding hearts don't see t that way.

Do they get charged with child endangerment.. no.. did they endanger the child.. yes they did.

No one had ever climed that far up that Statue of Liberty.

So sad what some people will do just to try to stay in USA.

She pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Wonder if she felt she had a right to Prostest any way she wanted, even if it put others in great danger to rescue her.

Then she had the nerve to claim she was going higher, while Trump supporters were going low.

Just another warped lib mind.

She is nothing but an attention seeker.

She should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

She put many lives at risk with her unfounded, ridiculous, childish behaviour.

Lol.. not guilty.. She was waving.. taking little cat naps. taking her shoes off and trying to get higher.. good luck with the not guilty plea.

she woke up this morning now that the spot light is off her in a jail cell. Reality is starting to kick in. They are not going to go lightly on her, rightfully so.
