I have done business in China for over 15 years and I can tell you that they have gotten rich off of western money. Mansions all over the place. I can also tell you that they will cheat you every chance they get, on price, on material, on quality. That is why there are so many testing labs there for western companies to use. We had to use them.. there was zero trust.

Regarding the plastics, yep, everything manufactured in that country is made of , contains or is shipped in plastic...

On a daily basis I would have to walk a gauntlet of outside fires, plastics, rubber, chemical.. anything.. no rules and everyone at every level is on the take.

Funny thing is if you go to the Chinese ports and look at some of the containers coming into China from America they contain.. plastics.. garbage, old computers, parts, phones, car parts. ect. ect. We ship out plastic garbage there for them to get rid of knowing full well that they burn them out in the open

then we yell at them about pollution and holes in the ozone layer... Lol.

hypocritical

I wouldn't mind getting those old computers, there's a few dollars in scrap gold and other metals in them...I've got about 12 grams of gold powder from old electronics I've scraped in the last 6 months...

You are correct. That is one big reason why china takes that trash. The " recycling" factory owner hires peasants to strip the gold and metal out, he takes that and then has them burn the plastic or just throw it in the countryside.

It is really sad to see these workers they don't know any better and take the money made and send it to their families in the remote villages

No respiratory or safety gear, just heir shirts over their mouths. I look at them and know they will be dead is a few years.. sad stuff going on over there.

China has been selling us steel that is sub par so that they can destroy our ships much easier they have been selling us technology that we are using in a lot of our aircraft both commercial and military so that they can be hacked and downed..they are crippling foreign nations that we do trade with in order to economically cripple us..there is a silent war going on,on many fronts that people are not aware of and this is just a tip of the iceberg from what I have uncovered...

I gave you all the post and you can see for yourself if what has been going on around us falls in line to what you are hearing on these post..in this case you will easily see that it all adds up..see for yourself if it all makes sense you don't have to believe me..Tombs doesn't wear a tinfoil hat no matter what some critics may say..altho it does sound like an idea after they start up the 5G..jk..Just see for yourself..WWG1 WGA

The story of what China has been up to goes back a long way, through many Administrations and Presidents of both parties. The motivations behind each version of trade agreements we've had has changed a lot as well.

And the motivations of the opponents and critics of each agreement, show all the usual variation too, with no complete saints or sinners.

If you want concern over pollution though, there's not much recent history of any Republican showing positive interest. They've cheered wildly at every elimination of pollution limits and treaties and concerns.

And it's not just China that we and other nations have been shipping garbage to. African countries are popular dumping areas.

As for the overall trade situation with China, it's way more complicated than just taxes and tariffs. China has been playing nasty games against the rest of the world, especially the US, for a long time. And again, the many different players in the game on our side especially, have ALL done deals that were bad for Americans. Individual international companies have been willing to hand over their own intellectual properties, in exchange for sales or manufacturing access.

What bothers me right now, is that all the attention is ONLY on the tariffs. Meanwhile, China has actually expanded it's direct military control over large areas of the Pacific, by building up artificial islands, and then building bases on them.

I haven't heard anything in the Pacific, I thought it was all in the South China Sea...

Now, now, lets be fair. I was back and forth over there thru most of the Obama administration and the plastics were burning around the clock. American plastic.

So the Dems didn't do anything either

yes, they screamed to the Chinese about the pollution and hole in the ozone layer all while the freight containers laden with toxic plastics continued to arrive.

Out of sight.. out of mind

Well, you wont find me praising the Democrats, or making any claims of them doing everything right. That's one.

And the reason WHY "all while the freight containers laden with toxic plastics continued to arrive," isn't because the Democrats actively worked to make that happen, so accusing them of SUPPORTING more shipping of our garbage around the world, would require you to show mechanically that that occurred.

But most of all, the point I was making, is that since the REPUBLICANS control the ENTIRE Federal Government, and the REPUBLICANS are consistently opposed to doing anything at all to use government to deal with pollution, that no one should be surprised that they AREN'T doing anything about this, and WONT do anything about this.

or how about this novel approach. We address and get rid of our OWN garbage in a proper manner here as opposed to putting it on ships destine for lands where we know it will not be property disposed of.

All we are doing is keeping our back yard clean and throwing our garbage over the fence to the poorer guys yard.

Garbage has to go somewhere. People should try to be less wasteful. Water bottles alone are out of control. People won't drink from the tap because it's dirty. I guess they've never been in an injection molding plant. Everybody needs the latest phone every year and good phones are going in the trash. Etc.

The pollution in China is awful.
I went to Hongkong 2 years ago.
The CO2 in the air there is to get sick.
They also love to dump their plastic in the water, yes.
There were bottles,... drifting on the water everywhere and oil stains.
We were also advised not to drink tap water over there.
What struck me the most is how little hygiene the Chinese population in Hongkong had.

Packaging is out of control, garbage gets shipped here, garbage gets shipped out. The Chinese have recently put restrictions on accepting trash now, the waste management company I deal with told me things are going to get way serious soon, we just have nowhere to put the accumulating trash. It's a problem now but just wait, it's going to be a calamity

There is an article in the Washington Post called "Confidential report lists U.S weapons systems design Compromised by Chinese cyberspies" sorry ran astray...

Back on topic ..sorry .. You really want to get rid of the garbage ..load it in a space X rocket and point that sucker towards the sun with the extreme heat it and the rocket will disintegrate before it reaches the sun's surface..now whether this is monetarily feasible I have no idea ..of course you could just launch it from the rockets cargo bay and there you go...trash day out again on every Thursday make sure to set it out on the launch pad Thursdays cuz that's trash day ...smile2

And HK is nothing compared to what is on the other side of that boarder into mainland. Hong Kong 1,000 % cleaner then mainland because they ere under British rule and were taught a different lifestyle. I like HK. I could live there.

The residents of Hong Kong are embarrassed with what goes on over the boarder. And that is why they still have the boarder up.. because they do not want mainland Chinese invading their " country" even though China now has control of HK again.

There is only one word for the pollution in mainland China.. disgusting... air, water, ground.. everything is bad.

We will never know how many die each year due to it. The Chinese government will never say but the number is staggering.

I got sick 5 times there. All from parasites getting in my body from the environment or the food.

Because their food preparation and sanitary conditions are equally as bad as the pollution.

It really is totally disgusting what is becoming of our planet, mankind has no respect for mother earth..when you see what is becoming of our atmosphere and our oceans it's enough to make you sick and now literally does..it's just a matter of time before we create a bad enough environment that it winds up killing off our species all together...or we mutate into something else..I wonder what will happen first...

It's not like we are really concerned after all if it's a real problem we just keep it out of the main stream media as if out of sight out of mind is the answer..its gonna wind up biting us in the butt..it's just a matter of time before we reach the tipping point..I mean just look at Fukushima, have any idea what is going on there ..not to worry a little radiation can't be a bad thing right...and the problems in China just make matters that much worse..it seems we talk about these things too bad so little is being done to correct them...

It really is. We ( richer nations) have a habit of sweeping our " dirt " under the rugs of poorer nations who need the money.
I have seen China, I heard that Africa is worse..

what goes around.. comes around.

it will bite the entire planet in the a*s
