Data about welfare fraud is bs. Most case workers deal with the same people year after year. Selling foodstamps is just one form of fraud. Being too lazy to work is the major one. That's not even illegal. Welfare needs reform. Seems Trump is doing that. I'm not sure of the details but I think the reduction starts next year...staggering.

once again, many who have not needed it only assume on what they have heard and assumed they saw. Food stamps are no longer a thing, there are now debit cards that have an allotment for food and/or cash. CASH benefit can be used for anything but has a work requirement attached to it. Food allotment can only be used for food and is illegal to sell. There has been enough reform. Now there is only republican talking points and fear tactics riling people up to believe that fraud is somehow unavoidable altogether in the welfare system, as opposed to every other system in which humans ILLEGALLY commit fraud.

I've worked with women on food CARDS getting their nails done, paying for the vip section at the club, and the hotel after for sex. Yes they ended up pregnant. Can't possibly know who dad is. I'm a single mom who doesn't piss money away on any of that. I'm not on food CARD. The other women shouldn't be either. It's fraud.

there will always be abusers of our systems. doen't mean we should do away with them, just that we should be vigilant.

we don't do away with a police force if a small minority of cops abuse their authority do we?

did you bother to report the 'fraudsters'?

and how many women were they out of MILLIONS on assistance? food cards also help people with low wage, did they tell you their life story about what their living was while you were in their wallet checking to see what kind of cards they have?

Food card is to MAKE up for being below poverty. IT doesnt require people forego personal appearance(Within reason) or decent wardrobes or entertainment(again, in reason)

people all budget the income they get, and they arent all required to budget in the same identical way. If she misreported her income, that would be fraud. Hard to know that just because someone spends 15 buck on a manicure though.

you consider it pissing money away then dont spend it on those things but your choice of what you think you want to buy should not dictate everyone else's options.

It's not their choice if Trump has anything to say about it. Everybody is seeing the welfare fraud. You seem to think denying it exist will keep it from being cut. It's not between me and you. It's the voters who are fed up and voting Republican. There are plenty of jobs. They can work instead of laying on their back for welfare.

no one is denying its existence. Fraud exists in every system we have, not just welfare, but corporate welfare, banking, health care. Fraud is illegal in every system and when discovered, it is prosecuted. we dont throw out or overhaul any other system because of this crime.

And it is not between me and you .there are millions of other lives and experiences in this world. Jobs are not plentiful when you consider that people have to have the right skills, location, and references, education, et cetera on their resume. Most are trying to work as the numbers showed previously that something like 80 percent are working within the next year.

so like I Said, its a smokescreen to scapegoat the poor while the wealthy keep reaping benefit upon benefit and having their collective behinds kissed and thanked for the division and inequality they gladly contribute to to keep their status.

People do have to vote and like minds tend to stick around each other. For every person someone knows who believes all the rampant welfare fraud nonsense and wants to treat these people like their ignorant children choosing their budget for them ... I know someone who pays taxes and understands that keeping kids fed and in shelter is just as important use of their tax money as keeping the military funded and the wealthy incentivized.

i love your usage of "everybody". it's almost as if you actually believe that you use it acurately and that there's no implication that since it's been stated, that now 'everybody' should agree.

now, where have i heard it before?

Ya know, all of you are looking at this one sided...welfare fraud isn't just the consumers, it's also the store owners as well, where the bigger frauds take place... For all you deniers out there, a simple Google search will show this

no on has denied fraud exists. the debate is whether the degree of fraud justifies treating all recipients as lazy and 'undeserving' of the little help it provides by overhauling the whole system to one which treats recipients as mere slaves to the taxpayers will of what things they should be able to purchase or eat or own.

Seems that the most potential for fraud is in "Republican states" as well... as you said, a simple Google search shows it

"WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican leaders have spent months promoting the myth that red low-tax states are subsidizing blue high-tax states because of the deduction for state and local taxes.

An Associated Press Fact Check finds it’s actually the other way around. High-tax, traditionally Democratic states (blue), subsidize low-tax, traditionally Republican states (red) — in a big way."

https://www.apnews.com/2f83c72de1bd440d92cdbc0d3b6bc08c

It simply goes back to the original premise of this thread, that the "lazy left" is a misnomer, the blue states are shouldering the tax burden of lazy Trump supporters... Let me guess, "fake news", right?

then they should get a job... If we want something, we have to earn it, not have it given to us....nobody is a slave, but if you think you are, then I guess you are...if people don't like FREE, GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS, then maybe welfare isn't for those folks...

may not be fake, but it's not being interpreted very well...NYC and LA have a bigger population then the states of Mis.and Alabama, and both cities have lots of work to get, unlike most of the southern states except Texas... So, that actually makes sense...

Wait, from what I read here, Dear Leader has totally licked unemployment, and there are plenty of jobs EVERYwhere, and if people are not working, they are LAZY. But there is more work in BLUE states?
And more lazy people in red states? And the burden of covering the lazy in the red states is on the hard workers in blue states? I would call that a true paradox, that the states so bucking welfare funding are the states taking the most welfare money?

It just seems that when the gold paint (well, orange paint) is rubbed a bit, the finish comes right off these "successes" Dear Leader is trying to claim

they 'should' get a job, but they HAVE to also have their kids supervised (which isnt free) have jobs in a vicinity they can get to, which meet the skills and education level they have, and pay a wage that makes the expenses of traveling, childcare, wardrobe, and paying living expenses, worth the while.

As we know, even then, they can wait three weeks to a month to start that job and get a pay. I know a young man my son works with who waited a full month after being 'hired' for the job for all the checks to complete and corporate to clear everything to START work and then another three weeks to receive a check. Jobs arent flowers, and more importantly, paychecks certainly arent. One does not just step outside and pick one from a tree and suddenly have the ability to pay bills and give their kids food and shelter.

Sounds like family should pitch in and help..grandmas, granddads, aunt's etc. Maybe not having kids they can't support would be the best idea.

sounds like people dont understand that life is not all under any ones control and crap happens at different times in every ones life, and not all have a network of people who are not struggling too much to help them.'

Your experience is not EVERYONE else's.

we all have problems and we all have to live... The reasons to have a job outweighs all the excuses why not to get one... government help is temporary, unless you're disabled in some way, then it's for life and still not enough... temporary means help so you can find a job, not an excuse to make excuses..

They are not excuses, they are equally important responsibilities.

the help is temporary, most are not LIVING on the scraps of assistance. most who believe they are have never had to try to and are only assuming from what they hear or what they have seen in any given event they witnessed on a day out and made assumptions about.

I said its not enough to live on and only to get by, despite all the claims of excessive abuse and 'generational' or 'lazy' people who just dont want to work.
