Thanks,

It was an adventure for sure. lol

It's in our nature to be dependent on each other in at least some capacity. Even off grid, you still depend on at least some people to some extent.

I don't think I need to go the extreme of being truly off grid, but I do want to have my own farm, livestock, make my own energy, etc. so that I'm less dependent on others for my survival.

I don't need a bunker or a crazy collection of guns and ammo, just a handful of cows, chickens, a few hogs, and a nice farm to sustain us all would be nice.

Not necessarily a simpler life, but the work would probably be more satisfying than working for some faceless corporation that is probably trying to kill you anyway.

we're on the same page... I like the way you think.
That's exactly what I mean.
You work for yourself... literally....effing literally, for survival.
And at the same time you're giving the government the finger, as in : "I can live without you and your corrupt BS."
"Stealing the taxpayers money as politicians or bankers or the effing 10 or 1 percent, so eff you."
Sorry my languague.. I know I could've expressed myself better, but.. Well, you know, I'm talking straight as a middleclass dude.
I could go exquisitely and become a more Shakepearian version, but I think it would be a bit out of date although most woman might think it to be more appealing and poetic..:)
As of now, I'm talking to a man.

I think you expressed yourself quite well. For me, it's not so much as giving the government the finger, as I don't think they care about me for it to matter, it's more about surviving, and not depending on the government. The government wants you to depend on them, the more you depend on them, the more they can control you.

They would love us to beg them for protection, even though we get nothing.
Pay, and we steal. Get brainwashed by the media and we hyphnotize you
to whatever we want you to do...Worh for us...Work for us... Work for us...and you will, when hitting 56, become a millionaire.
(You'll die by 60, because of your hard work by I will become 98 and live life big time, so...Eff you....hahaha.)
The smarter tricks the less smarter..... It has always been like that and will continue.

Yeah, but then even when you do have your own land and all. The government can still come and take it away.

There's a city here in Ohio that was stolen because of imminent domain. It was truly a criminal act and once it got to the point where they could no longer justify it, they offered to sell the land back to the people they stole it from, but by that time everything had been destroyed, farms, houses, the land has basically become abandoned.

That wasn't the first nor the last time the government has done something like that either.

I would like to make my own island.

I am currently living in an igloo, using a phone I built out of fish bones, my next door neighbour polar bear allows me to use her electricity to power it , I'm not allowed to divulge the way she gets it, but I am allowed to say that she's called Tesla

Ask her to send me some seal skins, so I can make a coat and cut back on my gas bill for heating my bathroom.

Seems like the people who want to live off grid, want to be away from people and self sufficient. They are not paying for electricity or water. That's a lot of work.

yeah, it's a lot of work, but so is being "civilized". I think it evens out to the same amount of work, it's just more satisfying when you're working for yourself, not someone else mostly.

That's exactly my point. Although the "Freedom" is discusable, as we, living with a body, never will be totally free as we have to keep feeding it and have children that we have to feed too... the freedom in my mind lies in the sheer freedom of not being in the hands of any cooperates that have the power over me. I'm told that I own a house that I'll NEVER own, becauseI Have to pay tax on that house no matter how many years I've payed on it... It's a joke and a hoax. One month not paying the tax, even if I payed out the house, they come and throw me out.
Que???
Is that right?

Yup, even if you pay your taxes. They'll still take your land from you.

I want to build my own island out of plastic bottles and such, and plant grass and such on the surface, put a hut in the middle, get some livestock, and just float away.

Living off the grid is not what most people think it is.
The idea of living off the grid has nothing to do with survival.
It means that the gov't can't track your whereabouts.
You leave no evidence of your presence that can be tracked to your location.
That is the only thing that 'living off the grid' means.

Its more difficult than you might think.
Everybody leaves a track of their presence in some way or another.
Anytime your identity is used to do anything, you are trackable.
This includes your image.

If you are living on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere and you go to a port to procure supplies and use money, stand in front of a camera, you are on the grid.

If you live in a cabin that you made in the mountains but go to the local town and buy 50 lbs of sugar with your card, you are on the grid.

If you walk along a street that has cameras, either red light camera or the cameras of the businesses along that street, you are on the grid.

If someone with the right resouces wants to find you, you have to completely disappear from civilization to avoid being found and hope...that they don't have a general idea of where you are because google maps satellite images is only the 'public' resolution available.
I mean hell, we can look at Mars in detail. You think they can;t track your movement in the mountains or see your bungalo on an island?
Get real.

BUT...
Chances are, you are not important enough to warrant the resouces for such a search. Chances are, your net worth is not even close to being significant enough for consideration.
People have what is called "delusion of grandure".
That's where they think that they are viatl to something someone else needs or wants that has the power to actually find it.
I dunno bout you, but I am certainly not worth the time, effort or money needed for any focus.
I mean for heaven's sake, get real.

I don't know Tom. The very fact that you want to be off the grid and not be observed, puts you on a list , so that you are deemed as some1 to keep an eye on. Its considered subversive, and the powers that be, don't like that

Anyone interested in off grid living really needs to take a look at what legislation has done in some places and is working towards in others.
Big money has a greed that is unfathomable for many.

Collecting your own rain water on your own property is now illegal in some areas.
If I'm correct gardens in some areas are now illegal and I do know that big electric is or was working legislation to make power generation illegal.

The greed is getting to the point of insanity IMHO.
