Just curious
Through the search function how many miles do you have to go before you start seeing any listings?

I don't see any listing until I get to 50 miles which shows 11 that haven't signed in here for over a month.

Better increase your range! You could also try changing some options in the search. But if you have "All" selected on everything, you just might be "out there" in the boonies.

There are so many stale profiles on here, you may have a hard time finding people who return. I guess they don't want to give you the real date on the last time someone visited the site. But don't give up, play with your search options.

Yep..me too...

And the 3-4 that HAVE been on within the last week have nothing written on their profile, so I have no idea if we have *anything* at all in common..

Someone said "expand your search"...
Fine, but what if you don't *want to* drive 100+ miles, or can't (due to any number of reason)..

It'd have to be a SUPER person for me to entertain the thought of driving over an hour to see them...

If *you* are one of those people for whom distance is no object"...fine, you do you....not everybody feels the same, and that's OK.

Man has to live by some standards.

"Any", settings on all choices bring 50 miles to 84 listings and it looks like none have signed in for the last month.

Well, don't jump in your car as soon as you get a reply! That will fix one problem.

Plenty of those replies from people with nothing filled in on their profile are fake (as bad as the stale profiles) or are people just probing temporarily and not really sure if they want to do this.

Chat them up. Learn more as you chat. You know, kind of like real life.

Yep,
Pretty sure my blocked list is now 17 or 18 pages long.
Edit: 16

Hey darlin'...it ain't no picnic for the women, either...whoa

As I *said*...between the ones who haven't been online in over a month, and the 3-4 who *have*, but have a blank profile (all within 100 miles)...WE have "slim pickns'" too...

Most Online men want s woman in Their own City, so they don't have to put forth much effort.

Takes time and the right Dating venues to meet Men who will travel just for a first meet in person. Believe me they are out there.

Me personally a couple hundred miles really isn't that big a deal if there may be a future in it.

I've lived where I do for about 15 years now, it's just a fact of my life I've grown to be aware of.

This last spring a gal and I met, we agreed to split plane fare and she visited for a week, just before she left I gave her what she had paid for the plane tickets, she got a free vacation.

We had a great time although I don't feel her intentions were 100% authentic.

At 15 miles, with age filters set,
I see 59 potentials.
A few have been on today.

At 150 miles, with age filters set,
I see nearly 7,000 potentials.

At 200 miles, age filters set,
I see 10,000+ potentials.

Actually, pretty good odds,
if I were still looking.

Because of geography, my results include 6 large cities,
and small towns in between.

Many on the first 4 or 5 pages of my results,
will have been "on", within the last 4 days.

After that? It thins out.

Yes, but you also have to throw out the fake women....

It takes a bit of math and some understanding of probabilities based on abstracts.

The first thing to do is to look up your city data (USA?).
Look at the demographics of where you live and the closest town/cities to you.
Look at the population numbers, households and other pertinent data.

Then consider that not every available person is looking at all. To be conservative, figure 1/2.
Then consider how many online dating sites there are both paid and free.
Then look at the figures against that number.
Then look at the popularity of the site you are using.(Site Rating)
Then consider this is a free site that attracts any and all scammers and swindlers.
So, figure from there the ratio of possible potentials.
Then subtract for any and all personal preferences you might impose on a selection.
Then figure no response ratio.
And finally, figure out from the ones that do reply/show interest that do meet your preferences but have to agree that you also meet their preferences.

I came up with a number.
-24

In all honesty tho, I did find someone within 10 minutes drive that is currently in progress.
Her profile wasn't a perfect match but I took a chance and the face-to-face worked out great.
If I had been so picky about her profile before agreeing to meet her, we would have never met and I would still be a Zero/Zero.
She isn't that tech savy and has no experience with online dating or writing a profile but in person she is very likeable.
