And I feel like there's somebody running around in my brain.....omg... is it worth it I don't know

I don't know. Ask your girlfriend when you grow moobs and a belly. My ex gained 20kg when he'd quit, and started drinking to compensate. First just some beer, then whiskey.
That's why I said earlier, you got to address the reason for addiction so you can prevent compensating (drinking, eating too much and so on).

I likened vaping to smoking a pipe.
I had to concentrate on holding it like a pipe.
(I used to smoke a pipe)

My son suggested I try "Blue".
I am hestitant about transferring one compulsion to another, tho.
"The lesser of two evils is still evil".

The patches were working but my body wasn't cooperating.
I've tried keeping my pack out in the truck but I was constantly making trips to the truck.

I smoke without thinking.
I tried to make myself think about it but end up out of cigarettes as a suprise.
When I was on the patch and not smoking, I felt better.
I don't think my body NEEDS the nicotine.
I think its mostly an auto-reflex.
I buy cigarettes on impulse.

If I don't have the money I can go without them.
If I am somewhere I can't smoke, I can go without them.
Problem is, I never run out of money and I never stay where I can't smoke.
I could put No Smoking signs up in my home but I would know its my home and those laws are mine to follow or not.

What I need is to have cigarettes and actively will myself not to smoke them.
That means, when I finally quit, I will be able to stare at a pack of cigarettes and a lighter next to an ashtray and not want to smoke them.
I will be able to stand next to someone smoking and not want one myself.

Tom - Just curious but what you meant when you said that you tried using the patch but your by wasn't cooperating ?

I've experienced the patch causing a reaction on my skin. Looks like an allergic reaction.
The gum and lozenges make me feel sick.

I know the only way for to stop smoking is a complete cessation.
But, i am weak.

The patches work while I am able to use them.
Problem is, when I do use them. I suffer he related issues.
I need something that the patch offers but without the allergic reaction.
So far, nothing has come even close to the patches in getting me to quit.
But, id I use them I pay dearly.
I am prone to infections.
My health issues relate to infection.
Thus, the patches are not an option.

Ok.. have cut way back on smoking.. went to the doctors for a little extra help
Last week.. prescribed..Sandoz. Bupropion.. to help with the cravings... it also is a mild antidepressant...... I have not slept for at least two weeks properly and now I have Tremors and the shakes. And I feel like there's somebody running around in my brain.....omg... is it worth it I don't know

sounds like your reaction may be from the meds & not from quitting smoking - I'd call your dr =doesn't seem like this meds aren't agreeing with you - those are nasty side- effects!

That's really lousy Tom - sounds like you really want to quit. Have you ever tried hypnosis? I heard it works for some people.

Chantix was great for weird dreams. The stupid nicotine patch was the great aggravator. It just kept the cravings coming.

Neigher really got me to stop. When the cigarette price jumped, I changed to filtered cigars, they were loads cheaper. I went cold turkey. I chose to go when it was warm, that way I could do something to get my mind off it.

The first day was the toughest, but I defeated it. Each day got easier. Biggest issue was keeping occupied. Funny part about it, I kept a pack of cigars handy, just in case. I never used them. After two months, I gave them away

What threw me was my blood pressure. I was 126/80 before I started. It dropped to 110/70. My doctor was tickled that it did. Going cold was by far the easiest for me, but that's just me.

I have been a cigarette (nicotine) smoker for most of my life - gave up for years but in times of crisis have always gone back - the only point in my favour is that no self respecting germ ever comes near me now

Here's what I KNOW.
When I wake I breathe okay.
Not the best but okay.

I light a smoke and I cough and choke and it is awful.
I wonder why I lit that smoke (50 years this year).

By the second smoke, I am fine.
A non-issue.
I am fine till I wake the next day and bingo bango repeat.

I know I feel like shiat because I smoke.
I know I need to stop smoking.
Why don't I?

I have tried to stop.
I went a week once.
I convinved myself to start again.
It felt awful.
I know it was bad for me.
I feel the effects.
Yet,
I continue to smoke?

For the life of me I can't figure out why I can't stop something I know is making my like terrible yet I continue doing it?
I'm a reasonable type of person.
There is NO REASON why I should smoke.
I'm perplexed.
It makes no sense to me.

There's a sense about me that dictates for me to truly be free of cigarettes the must be available.
To me, to truly quit, I must be able to look at a pack and choose not to smoke them.
Being without drives me to find reasons to go get some.
If I can have them and choose NOT to smoke them, I then have control over my addiction.
I have tried not buying them but ALWAYS found a reason to go buy some.
I know, to beat this affliction, I need to be able to have them and NOT use them.
Getting THERE is my battle.

Nicotine is a very strong addiction - and it is worse for people like me - and it sounds like you as well - who have an addictive personality - but beating yourself up about it will not help you either - if you learn to accept yourself for who you are and be happy - there are far worse addictions than nicotine - and it is still legal - last time I looked anyway - take it easy :)

Actually, I don't have self-esteem issues.
I need a solution, not a pep talk.
This 'thing' has a grip on me that is 50 years strong and I am losing my battle against it.
Other vices have been beaten but smoking has always won.
I'm closer than ever before to beating it but it always seems to get into my resolve.
I find it quite disheartening.

I found smoking outside and having roll ups made me smoke less it might not work over there but over here its mostly cold or raining or cold and rainy so when you are going outside you soon think I'll give it 5 mins.

I smoked for about 20 years. But also cycled 120 miles a week. only started to feel it at the end a bit. So i stopped with plums.

When I felt like a smoke I would eat a plum or two. I ate many plums.

Pooped my hoop for a few days, but I quit.

Also i worked out honestly how much it was costing me per year.. Believe me that will make you think..
Give yourself a payrise m8.

Smoking severely damages your wealth lol

So true I don't know how much it is in America but in the UK for a pack of 20 its 8.70 so even if you only smoke 10 a day it soon mounts up.
