Clay High School (South Bend Indiana) received a report form a female student that she had been sexually assaulted. The county police have spent the last week investigating the case. As it turns out the accusations were false.

The state has decided not to prosecute the teen girl. This is unfair. False criminal accusations in the general public would result in prosecution for making falsely criminal accusations and would result in possible jail time if found guilty.

We've locally had male teen students make false legal accusations in school and they were not only expelled from school but prosecuted. So why does a female break the same law and get a slap on the wrist?

I'm all for them prosecuting them for false reports.... tough love is the only way to teach them..

Women or men you file a false report you get prosecuted for it... Make them serve community time picking up trash and feeding the homeless.. teach them some manners...

Ohh and I have never heard of due to they are a woman filing a false report they get off more then men.. ?? Not sure where you got that info??

Now men are prosecuted more for rape then women are but different Topic...

I'm not sure. And it is of course, bang offside. Maybe there's more to the story than we know. Maybe she'd had some difficulties, which they took into account. Or maybe her parents found an influential ear. Maybe they just thought that getting nicked would be enough to scare her straight. Having something on your record can make many things difficult
I hardly think 1 case can really say, that this is some sort of proven trend.
As for your different thread texasgal, that would be interesting. Unpleasant, but interesting.

Typical! Prosecute before she thinks she might get away with it sometime.

Just as any man or wonan found guilty of rape should be punished. So should those found guilty of making false allegations.

Threatening someone's liberty is no joking matter. Especially when you consider how vulnerable to abuse people become once incarcerated among often unstable and desperate characters.

Punishment of any crime shouldn't be based on their gender

You do the Crime you do the Time. Male or female alike.

Not sure about this Case, maybe there were Special circumstances.
