Some people can connect the dots when they find out about father christmas, and the tooth fairy, and the easter bunny, etc, as a child.
The older you get, the more elaborate the B. S.

And it's so nice to converse, without voluminous illogical ramblings.

The Catholics used to say, "give us till they're seven years old..."

Hahaha?
Sorry pal, science is no closer to proving God than it was a decade ago.

The reason why I say 'proving God' and not 'disproving God' is because it makes no sense to pour scientific thought into a negative.
A whole lot of nothing to prove nothing.

Now, like I have said multiple times (in this thread), if we knew everything about everything everywhen we might prove if God exists or not. BUT, until we know everything about everything, everwhen, we can't prove it one way or the other.

So the PROOF thing, unrealistic considering our limited knowledge.

However...
The concept of God is something each of us believes or refuses to believe.
The only one it really matters to is you.
If you choose to believe or choose not to believe it is all within your own concept of reality.
The only person the answer should matter to is YOU.

The question is: DOES GOD EXIST?
That is a question only YOU can answer.
Try to keep up, I know it might be difficult for some of you.

You're being harsh, but I agree with you.

Richard Dawkins has written a book in which he claims he has 'proved' that god does not exist. I am not at all sure how it is possible to 'prove' that something does not exist. The usual scientific method is to attempt to prove that something 'does' exist. If you think you have succeeded, others will try to prove you wrong. If they fail, and many scientists try the experiment and all agree, then you might have proved something.

But proving something does 'not' exist? I guess I must get a copy of that book and see if I can understand more than a few words of it!

I've seen a few of Richard Dawkin's lectures.
While I do consider him to be a reasonable thinker, he also has a fanatical side. Like most scientists in the public eye, he thinks his ideas are irrefutable.
While they do make sense on the surface, they are still merely ideas from an imagination.
No more or less worthy than anyone else;s ideas (given the education).

It isn't the reasonable ideas I have a problem with, it is his surety he can't be wrong.
One thing science has proven time after time is the fact what we think we know right now, doesn't necessarily mean what reality actually is.

Science, real science is a running tally of what we understand and may not be what actually is.
Its his surety I question, not his reason.

Just as religion warns about false profits, science has incorrect conclusions.

I read this Taiwanese / Chinese proverb, and liked it
It reminded me, of this thread

A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.

The bible is full or total contradictions, so nobody can claim it is 'the truth'. Which bit of it is true?

Truth is subject to relativity.
Reality is not.

Truth:
If you jump off a tall building naked you will fall, not fly.
Reality:
If you jump off a tall building naked you will fly but only while you are falling.
Truth:
You can skydive without a parachute.
Reality:
You only need a parachute if you want to skydive twice.

I wish I knew my bible but I have forgotten it all now. There are things said in it - many things - that are flatly contradicted in other parts of it. If I can find some time, I might look into this, but hopefully there are others here who know their bible well enough to provide examples. It is nothing more than a book of illustrative fairy tales. To say that the bible is 'the truth' is a bit like saying that '3rd rock from the sun' (TV series not the album) is 'the truth'!

I got mine out to argue with the beard, and there was so much to argue in there, I read a bit, and just couldn't be bothered.
I have copious notes in margins about this and that - easy to befuddle the door knockers when they come too close.
"Come into my parlour" said the well read heathen to the starry eyed acolyte.
Praise the gourd.

I don't own a bible anymore.
Got rid of it when I got rid of all my fantasy books.
LOL, just looked around and realized I don't have any of those quote pictures on the walls either. (ya know like "footprints")
I do have two NASA certificates (Benneu + New Horizons Missions) and my diploma from Star Fleet Academy hanging in the hallway.

I do have a computer with HS internet so I could look up any passage from nearly any bible if I wanted. I'm just no longer interested in religion.

I had a look on google and found that as soon as I typed in the word 'contradictions' among the offerings was, 'contradictions in the bible'. I wish I had seen this earlier in this thread. It might have been amusing........

Far too many to give some quotes, but I give here just one website I found, http://contradictionsinthebible.com/ which gives a discussion about many of them.

How can anyone seriously 'believe' all this stuff? What is there to 'believe'? Which bits do you believe and how do you explain the contradictions? Or to put it as someone else no longer here might have said, "Which bits are true and which false" (and why?) He would of course have replied at great length complete with quotes in other languages to prove his competance in the subject!

Here's perhaps another angle
And something I know nothing about, but would like to learn more of, even if it's all baloney, which, I don't think it is
Although, it's likely another of those :see_no_evil::hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil: , subjects, that the ministry of magik, would set you adrift on a raft made of rats tails, should you utter a word about
The Egyptian, and Tibetan, book of the Dead
Used by, Egyptian Priests, and Tibetan Monks, I believe.
So, they're religious people
And have you seen those Tibetan sand Mandalas?
Oh, they're really quite beautiful
Honestly if you've never seen 1, check them out.
There are some time lapse videos of their creation
Why would somebody make them?
I'm fascinated , and while I know, nothing of magik, or symbolism, it seems inherently clear, that this, is what they are
Anyway, truly, check them out
Any thoughts?
