Feeling quite good, although sleepy. That's okay, time to go to bed anyways, it's past 1.

Shocked, sad, stressed, panicked... I think my car just died tears And I haven't enough money to get another one.
I'm glad I made it home, still shaking.

breathe. you did make it home.
what happened?

Sometimes there was this grinding noise and higher revving when I went up in gears, starting with the 4th and then the 5th.
Today it did that too, I decided to stop before having to drive dual carriage way with 80 km/p hour and start the car again.
Wow, that helped, not! Could barely pull up, revving like an idiot. Thank goodness I could get in 3rd gear, and decided to go home. I did make it home, driving slow and all the way in 3rd gear.
Contacted mechanic, he said by the sound of things it's the clutch stuff, costing E450 approx, which isn't worth it no more.
tears
If I'd do that, chances are 1 month from now something else major breaks down.
I knew it was going to happen at some point, but still never the right time...

And yes, I am glad I made it home in one piece! Could've happened after a night out in the middle of nowhere as well. And we got a lot of 'middle of nowhere' around here.

Pretty good, before grocery shopping I stopped at the store to get an exercise shirt for the fitness center tomorrow. I found one of those nice ones that keep you dry and cool for a decent price. Now I can exercise in style, haha.

You still going to the gym then? have you got a sports bra? I'm told they are a revelation.

OT cold, hungry.

I start tomorrow. It's kind of like a sports bra, but I figured I'd go bra-less tongue2

yeppers sounds like a clutch is needed. tho i would try to get him to take a good look at the rest of the old girl before condemning her. a clutch is not really a major deal. and if he has no other concerns about her and her age, you won't get a replacement car for what the clutch will cost or anything even close to that amount

Yes, in a way that is a consideration. But there's also that years ago I had to put that stuff in that closes holes as it was leaking coolant. It's been driving on that perfectly for some 6 years now, but the last 2 years the engine does run warmer than it used to because that stuff affected the radiator. He already did a botch job on sorted that a bit to save me cost. But I suppose at some point the whole system that's hanging together on that stuff now will collapse?
So is it still worth it? It's quite the risk. Like putting a new battery in 1 month ago, having the MOT costing E300 in Sept and an average of E400 the 3 years prior. How long do you go on trying to keep the old girl alive?
If I now spend E450 on it I have no reserves whatsoever left. Now I have E400 already saved up for another. Decisions decisions...

yep it is a bit of a decision. but that's where a good profession assessment comes in. and i would venture that even e400 a year wouldn't cover payments on a newer one. for here in my area the number is about 300 a month or 3600 us each and every year in repairs is still less than payments registration fees and the required insurance for a car with a lien against it. and even that number gets moved based on the car and types of repairs i was doing. yes most of my customers were running mostly older cars

Yeah, my son is also driving an older car, a Saab, but then you're talking different base quality to begin with as opposed to an Opel Agila, right.
We don't have higher insurance depending on lien (I had to Google what that was, haha) or type of repair. Cost depends on the nr of insurance claims, in other words the nr of accidents you caused, and the amount of years you drive without causing them. You start high, each damage-free year you get discount. I'm at the highest level of discount.
Plus, this province is considered low risk area (rural) so insurance here is cheaper than for instance in Amsterdam. I believe I pay E17 a month toward car insurance.
Oh well, not sure yet. I wouldn't want another car that's much heavier than this one as then road tax goes up. I'm in cheapest tariff for that now (950 kg).
I might ask this neighbour a few doors down, he does a lot in cars. Maybe he knows someone...
First going to let it sink in.

Shame you don't live around the corner, then I could consult you for an expert opinion, haha.
