Most believe "soul" to essentially be one's spirit -that which they are minus their physical body.

Biblically, the word translated soul includes both body and spirit -and is also used to describe animals -the spirit being that which allows for understanding, thinking, etc. to varying degrees.

Some believe in an everlasting/eternal/immortal soul that has always existed -and will always exist -as such -but biblical scripture states that both body and spirit can be destroyed in Gehenna (lake of fire).

One's spirit can be made immortal, though -as can their body (as well as being much improved). As a body is an interface between the spirit and environment, the interface can be designed to interact differently -on a different level -so with that new body we can become a spirit -while also technically having a spirit -which would be in a "spirit" body.

My health is worse than ever but the doc put me on some stronger and different meds.
GF and I are still having fun being in each other's company (over 2 years now).

Whether it be body, mind or soul, it all exists in the same Universe. No matter what others might try to tell you the soul exists because we exist and it is part of us and we are all part of the same Universe.

I suppose it could be likened to software/code -which resides as a pattern/system by arrangement of some medium -within some sort of processor -then it interfaces through hardware.
Technically, such code -when being processed -even within computers -does not actually exist of itself, but as arrangements of something else. .....A sort of emergent pattern, but one which is capable -by its design -of such things as intent and creativity (the ability to alter that which would otherwise naturally occur -to direct the dynamic flow of reality by conscious decision)

That all definitely seems too simplistic for something as complex and amazing as one's spirit, but complexity is by arrangement of multiple simplicities.
We may also be reluctant to believe that a "soul" or spirit is something which can be completely understood, but if anything exists in any way, it may potentially be completely understood.

Some see the "magic" as being in the depths of "unknowability" and mystery -and that is true in the beginning. The mysterious and unknown is awe-inspiring, and is also wonderful and true that we may continually create things which are new to others at our present level.
However, complete understanding and mastery of our selves and the basis of all reality -removing the mystery of that which already exists -paves the way for extreme power to create from and interface with reality... to infinitely create more awe and wonder.
