Someone told me that because I never answered any of their messages, I was playing hard to get.

Lord, I have heard it all now laugh

What exactly is playing hard to get in your opinion people?

I've been told I play impossible-to-get.
*shrug*

We all move at our own pace, so I don't judge
others for their pace. Okay... I judge.
But, I try not to. laugh

Why though? I mean I understand the chase should be fun and flirty, even a bit mysterious, but it reminds me of playing head games...

I know Rockgnomes wait till someone steals them and puts them on show elsewhere. Perhaps you have great security lights and ferocious dogs guarding you? shades

I tend to believe that as well.
I'm not into head games at all.
Reminds me of immature children.
Play head games with me and I turn and walk away.
Adults should know what they want.

I was driving through town with my sister and brother-in-law
in their new pickup truck. A guy pulled alongside, in his own
pickup truck. He smiled, I smiled, looked away, as you do.

We arrived at our destination and drove into the parking lot.
My BIL got out and walked away then my sister and I got out
to stretch. I see the BIL has someone in deep conversation
on the RV lot already..I look closer, it is the feller from
the truck who had pulled alongside us earlier!

My BIL brings the chap over to us and introduces him, 'I just
met this man and he wants to meet YOU.' Then he walks away with
my sister..they think it is very funny.

'I want you to marry me' he starts out (this is a complete stranger btw.)
Turns out he was from Texas (this is all true) and had been sent
out to California by BigDaddy to get himself a bride, soon as he did so
the ranch was his. Somebody had seen GIANT too many times I was thinking.

When he had seen us driving down the street in a PU truck it got his
immediate attention, he pulled aside to look inside and I smiled at
him, a sure sign..I was the one. More likely, he was out of time.

He talks for 5 minutes, pleading his case.
Now, he's a good-looking, tall chap, very presentable..but I tell you,
once I start laughing, there is no end in sight.
And I couldn't stop, I was biting my lip and everything.

He called me for a week (he got my # from my ever-helpful BIL) and
was most determined. I was very up-front with him about my disinterest
and he kept saying 'My Mother will love your sarcasm.'

Too soon, don't you see?
No time to get to know, to see the truth of someone.
We might have been a match sometime in the future, but NOT the
minute we met AND out of his need.
That is just creepy.
When you're 20.
The chase is sorely needed.

umm, thats not playing hard to get, that's exercising good judgement.
Playing hard to get would be if you lead him on to think you were interested in marring him and then disappeared/ghosted him on the wedding day.

Playing hard to get is acting/doing things opposite of your desires.
You like someone who likes you but you shun them just enough to discourage and make them try harder.
This tells me that person has some type of mental condition. Probably a self-esteem issue or a vindictive nature.
Frankly, I'm not interested in dating people of that calibur.
Been there/Done that.

Surely the fact that you don't answer the messages is a clue that you are not interested ?.
Why not just block them ?.

On another forum, this subject was brought up. A few women were waiting for more messages from guys, they'd never respond to just the first one. I posted the question to them, what happens if it's just one and done? In their view, I wasn't trying hard enough. My opinion, they weren't the effort.

Then there's guys who don't want to look like a stalker so they wait till they get a response before they reply.
On most dating sites 'no response' is a response.
You see many women in m2 forums say this.
If'n ya gots ta pester them, they ain't interested.

I am a grown-a** adult...I do not engage in Jr High school-type games..
If a guy acts "hard to get"...makes me chase him/ compete for him...I'm out.....I don't compete for ~anyone~..,.you play that hard to het crap..I'll go elsewhere...
You either want to get to know me, or you don't..I'm not chasing after you/ begging/ competing for your attention..

Same for me....I don't play games with dudes....I will not play hard to get/ coy...make you think I have several other dudes, and you need to try and get my sole attention..
Why can't 2 grownups just relate to each other without all that nonsense and subtefuge..??

If ypu personally LIKE that...fine....you do you...
