I halfway read an article on facebook about phone flexing, showing off your phone in photos. At first I thought it was dumb, but I am not into phones and just scanning through the search section on here there are a lot of profiles that have their phone in the pictures.
So just to get a conversation going, do you really think that phone flexing is a thing or is it more likely that something is wrong with their phone (including user error)?...lol

I Googled it and got a lot of stuff on phones that can flex, be rolled up or bent etc.

COncerning dating sites it allegedly means showcasing wealth & status through photos.

But you mean literally having your phone in the photo? But that isn't new, is it?
Tons of people have photos in front of a mirror with their mobile in view.
Which I don't find appealing.
I guess most don't have the option to switch to the camera on their side? Although that tech has been around for a long time, even on cheaper phones.

Yeah, that is why I thought it was weird, a lot of photos have the phone in the picture...especially the full body shots in a mirror. But I think they meant the closer stuff like just head shots. That is why I thought I would ask here, maybe I was missing something...lol

Phones have had a front and rear camera for a long time now, even my old flip phones years ago (simpler life) had them.

One other think I just thought of was maybe it was just started by someone who was envious of the nicer phones because they really want one to show off like that...lol

I'm less and less surprised by new "fads" these days.. but phone flexing? really?? noway do you need a safe word instead of a password?? rofl

I'm not a phone person.. still have my land line however my eldest freaks out when she can't reach me so she got me one, just to keep tabs on me.. call me old fashioned (or simply OLD laugh ) but the way I look at it is, if I don't answer the house phone? leave a message.. I'll get back to you when I can.. besides, I'm probably just outside shoveling or mowing the lawn laugh

I do not get the phones as a show off thing either, to me it is just an electric leash. People think it is weird that I have texting blocked on my phone, but I think it is weird to not use a phone as a phone...lol But I guess it is comparable to guys who need to have a Rolex watch instead of a Timex...lol

I think it has more to do with people not being handy with making photos or simply not bothered to put much effort and time into it.
I don't think it has anything much to do with showing off their phone. It'd take someone who's really into mobiles to be able to tell what kind of phone it is.

Many men don't even have a recent photo but one from the time they were still happy with their ex. They crop the ex off and that becomes their profile photo.
To them the photo in front of the mirror is probably already an effort.

I totally agree with being a leash.. my gawd.. there's a world happening in real life all around them and their eyes are glued to this mobile screen.. weird facination in my books.. like it's not real unless it comes thru a tiny screen.. noway

the only ones I allow texts are from my kids.. mind you, I call them back instead cuz I'd rather have a conversation than type..
WAIT! aren't we texting HERE and NOW? slaphead laugh at least I have a full keyboard rather than some tiny thing that auto corrects everything I want to say laugh

personally? I'd rather the timex bigsmile

That is one feature I use on the stupid cell.. the camera! my actual camera died last year and well.. it is convenient for that.. when I remember to carry it with me LOL.. but I DO know how to reverse the shot to not take a pic of my reflection bigsmile

however you're probably right about some people being technologically challenged

Men are not the only ones with pictures of their ex in their profile picture...lol There are a bunch of the women who have that as well. Some of them do not even crop out the ex, or cover the face or anything. Those are the weird vibe ones, almost like they are looking for someone to join their couple but the profile says they are single...lol

The camera on phones are handy for things like fine print, I have seen people do that in stores. They will take a picture of the labels and then zoom in to read it...lol
