i know alot of people are for it but i am against gun laws that are too
restrictive. i enjoy the right to own a firearm and i would not want to
see that right taken away. i noticed a debate starting on the topic and
all i have to say is that a good example of how a gun ban in the united
states won't work is the ability to buy them illegally. we had a ban on
assault weapons a few years back and it didn't stop people from getting
them and using them on our streets. i don't think you should take them
away from law abiding citizens and leave only the criminals armed.

banning guns never solves the problem. here in canada we have very
severe gun laws that cost alot but doesn't stop the guns getting in the
wrong hands!! wtf! stop banning the weapons and start controling the
peple who buy them. theyre the ones killing kids in our schools.

im not givin up my guns for nothin. i have an uncle, some idiot broke
into my uncles house, and my uncle couldnt get to the gun in time. this
idiot then proceeded to shoot my uncle, lock him in his own closet,
grabbed my aunt and thier one daughter and proceeded to rape them right
in front of the closet door. so that my uncle had to listen but could
not do a damn thing. because of that my aunt had nightmares EVERY NIGHT
and so does thier daughter. FU*K banning guns. whoever wants to take my
rifles can have them, but they're gonna have one hell of a time getting
them.

Zero: As far as your comment about urban/rural hunting I agree with
you. I know the area where you live and no hunting should be allowed
there. However I also hunt, with a bow though because it gives a better
chance to prey to escape, and despite the stores all over there is some
satisfaction in knowing that you have meat in freezer without paying the
ridiculous prices.

It's not so much that guns need to be conrolled as a better conrol
needed over who gets them. As strict as laws get over permits,
background checks, profiles etc. the fact remains that someone who wants
one bad enough can get one. Stricter sentences for using a weapon in
commission of a crime, smuggling weapons and illegal sales, use/sale of
military issue and use/ sale of vest cutters (Black Talon, Rhino) are
what's required. Honest citizens should have the right to defend
themselves.

Zero: Have that kind of collection myself. Probably what got me started
on chainmail. Have aleady learned that 2 1/2 feet of steel tends to
alter attitudes.

Zero don't bring a sword to a gun fight lol No really hunting is needed
for population control grow up damn. I have had bullets whiz around my
head. Me and my brother in law both, no big deal. Guns are good, it's
the people that use them that make them bad. You think for one moment
that a bad guy is going to care whether or not they are against the law
when he picks one up to commit a crime? Get real! Accidents happen. It
was an unfortunate accident that you took a stray bullet. Ok, cars kill
people too, let's do away with them. Lightning is another killer, ****
can't have storms no more better tell mother nature to knock it off.
Swords? Damn I am sure there are people that have had their throats slit
and died from blades a hell of alot smaller than those things, can't
have that either. Timothy McVeigh killed a bunch of people rather
quickly how? Yep, time to do away with fertilizer and diesel fuel, who
really has to have that stuff. Didn't have all this crap many years ago.
Get a life!!

Zero,
It would be nice if your theory had any solid ground to it. "Ban all
guns, except for law enforcement"? Let me remind you of how our freedom
was originally won. Alot of bloodshed AND guns. If we go to the extent
that we ban ALL guns from "free" people then only the bad people will
have the guns. Not my idea of an ideal situation. Now, what if the
government decides to take your rights away by force? Are you going to
throw silverware at them, or should we ban those too as they can be used
as deadly weapons? I am sorry that you were shot. The hunter was an
idiot for shooting at sounds and if he knew it was you he should have
been charged with attempted murder.

well as far as the food goes I don't really like wild meat but I do the
love the sport of hunting and like I said "animal population control"
I do not waste the meat I give it away.

GUNS DONT KILL PEOPLE....PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE! Anything can be used as a
weapon so please people cease the push for a "gunban" AND I have been in
law enforcement and most of the cops I am friends with will give up
there badges if there ever were a gun ban. Should make everyone nervous
to know that!

well in the states all states that have concelead weapons right to
carry laws have all had drops in crime rates, Missouri passed the right
to carry law and it was SUPPORTED BY ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICES, hmm
imagine that, crimes gonna happen with or without guns, yes bad guys
will have them no matter what, deal with it, and like I said if you want
to stop hunting accidents then educate the hunters, Missouri passed such
a law a while back to get a hunting license you MUST take an 8 hour
course and pass the test afterwards.

My personal favorite is a town which passed a bylaw requiring all
homeowners or those of legal age who could pass the background checks to
have a firearm. It's not strictly enforced (if you don't want one then
you don't) but the local police show up at your place and offer you a
choice from a selection. Crime dropped to near zero. Any crime afterward
was committed by outsiders.

Amendment II

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free
state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be
infringed."

Ok, first off, I'm not against owning firearms. I've owned a few myself
INCLUDING handguns. I also had a coach gun, which is also a restricted
weapon in Canada. These weapons however, can be legally possessed in
Canada if one is a legitimate gun collector. I even know someone in the
town of Harrow, Ontario that owns a hand held rocket launcher. Ya just
can't cruise around the city with them!!
The only reason I brought up the whole "gun thing" was cuz Bryon was
trying to hide behind the constitution with his views on the other
thread talking about the American right to life, liberty and something
else I can't remember at the moment cuz I'm pooped lol. So on one hand,
the constitution guarantees that stuff, but on the other hand, it
guarantees the right to own something concealable thats sole purpose is
to infringe on someone else's right to live free???

Ok NOW, as far as Amendment II goes, I notice that the REASON for that
right is to maintain a well regulated militia. I know there are some in
here that have served and others that are currently serving their
countries, and to ALL of them, we owe a big debt. But how bout the rest
of you? Are you willing to take that right under the conditions spelled
out QUITE clearly in this particular amendment? Have you even bothered
looking into the National Guard? You know, one weekend a month 2 weeks a
year?? Or would that cut into yer party time? You want that right but
wish to waive the condition under which it was given.

As far as a gun ban goes, I SERIOUSLY doubt that cops would quit. You at
least give firearms to those that are protecting not just your nation,
but your neighbourhoods. We have gun restrictions in Canada, yet our
police officers still carry.

Karma: I think I heard about that town if it's the one in Texas yer
thinking of lol

oh btw Fanta...it's pretty hard to hold up a liquor store with a pick up
truck, and not that easy to sneak up on someone either. Altho if ya had
a Dodge 'Stealth' maybe you could sneak up on 'em LOL

The dems are afraid of guns. They see it as a criminate for their policy
of total control on American citizens. That's why they want gun control.
They fear that if every citizen was armed that we would all revolt like
the revolutionist did against England. So they cite the need for gun
control so that ordinary citizens wont take-up arms against a communist
regime like the Dems.

About that hunting near your home. If the land is yours you can
restrict anyone hunting there and if it is your neighbors land I think
you would have to talk to him about it. At least that is how it works in
the USA. I don't know about Canada so my point may be moot.

I have guns, lots and lots and lots as I am a collector and a shooter.
I hunted for years and loved every minute of it. I would not give up my
guns for anyone or anything. But then again I have never been shot. I
do keep a loaded and ready handgun on my nightstand. Not in a drawer but
right where I can lay a hand on it comfortably. I don't think I could
sleep without it either.

I guess a lot of that has to do with how a person is raised and their
personal experiences. My experiences have been positive and no one will
be able to change MY mind by talking, posting or writing letters to
their congressmen or congresswomen. I will stand up and be counted when
it comes to gun issues as I do believe I should have a right to defend
myself and my friend.

I take care of a handicapped person here in my home and he is helpless,
it is in my hands to defend HIM and protect HIM to the best of my
ability and with all my training, I can do that. I did not pick up guns
as a hobby until I was much older. I was taught to respect and care for
a gun when I was a child as everyone in my family hunted and shot trap
so it is normal for me to have guns and know how to handle them.
