Profiles or emails that are full of spelling errors- or even worse, written in all caps- bother me because it's like the person was either in a huge rush or didn't care enough to spellcheck. Plus it's very hard to read a message or profile written in all caps and/or seriously misspelled. So...would you even answer an email written like that, or bother with someone whose profile read like it was written by a second grader?

I answer everybody -- so, yeah, I would answer that kind of e-mail, if I ever got one.

But I don't get them. I think I've made my position on illiteracy/laziness pretty clear. I don't expect everybody to write at a professional level, but I do expect that someone should know the difference between "loose" and "lose," between "their" and "there" and "they're," and know how to use an apostrophe. It's basic stuff. It's just as easy to get these things right.

One or two usually doesn't bother me much if it's an easy mistake and if they're like me and don't use spell check. If the whole thing is so bad that it makes George Bush look like a genius in comparison, now that's another story. If I wanted to talk to somebody who drops my IQ just through mere interaction, I'd talk to my cat! For people who use all caps, if you're going to yell at me you better have a good reason!

I herewith want to state that this is indeed a serious indiscretion and a blatant offense to the English language up with which I cannot put therefore henceforth I shall as I see fit send any and all such forms of written communication to that place commonly known as file thirteen but which on my computer is known as trash. laugh

That is so annoying. A few spelling errors here or there are not so bad, but when every other word is unintelligible I don't respond.

i think as long as it wasn't to bad, i'd be ok. but it's not cool when you get something that's virtually a 13 year old sending text messages

This is the internet. Most people can't spell or use proper grammar on the internet. Deal with it.

The way i figure it is that most of us women took typing in highschool...guys took auto mechanics. So unless you can change a transmission without critique then we women, should also overlook certain undefined skills.

But I have to say the spelling and grammar are sometimes offputting.
