im not sure if this is anything to really worry about.
but this is the 3rd time it has happen with in the last 2-3months my son would have blood in his stool. but im thinking hes straing. and that would be cause.. yea im going to call the doc. and see if there is any concern but i also wanted anyone that has any form of medical background if they think the same thing im thinking hes just straining..my son is a special needs child hes 22yrs old with a mind capcity of a 12yr old |

You'll know when you see the doctor...even if someone here were a medical professional I'm pretty sure they would have to know more medical background in order to make an intelligent decision on the matter.

It could be a lot of things. Get him to a doctor.

Dark red blood.
Bright red blood Black tarry stools. All blood in stool, but the color indicates where, and what type of bleeding. Arterial vs. venous...old vs. new. In the stool or on the toilet paper? Yes, by all means get it checked. |

I'm a nurse, so I would ask:
1. how much blood is in the stool? 2. is it fresh-looking blood? 3. does he appear to have hemorrhoids? 4. does he have abdominal pain? 5. what do his stools look like 6. has he had any recent illness or been on antibiotics? blood in stool is never normal, but there can be benign reasons why it is happening. If he has to strain a great deal, he may need to increase fluids, fiber, and/or consider a stool softener. He may have ulcers or some other lower bowel issue (infection, inflammatory bowel, etc) Best advice I can give is to take as much information in to physician and let them determine the cause. |

this is why they have doctors...to determine what's normal...crapping blood is not normal from what I understand with my limited training of first aid

While you are waiting to see the doc, read this article:

he has a doc appt on wed.
hes not cramping he doesnt have a fever his stool is just runny. so it seem to be more like diarea but we dont know whats with the blood.. but my mom is thinking maybe his meds. that is possible |

I was a medic in USAF. Bloody stool is a sign of many things...most of which are VERY DANGEROUS. Get the kid to a doctor ASAP.

If his stools are runny then I see no reason why he'd be straining. No sign of hemorrhoids. No matter how much medical experience anyone has can diagnose his condition without him being checked & most likely a test run on his stool sample. Better to have it checked & be nothing than to ignore it & it turn serious. I wouldn't hesitate. |
