Okay, I feel better now.
Not really. What do you do with a person whose so persistant you want to tell them to find a life? Someone you were very clear about just being friends and they decided it perhaps should go further without consulting you, and then proceeded? Last time I heard from this person was over 2 weeks ago when gently, but firmly pushed them out the door. Got home from wk, there was a message. Forgot about it and then a call "Why haven't you called me?" I told them everything, want to work on me for awhile, take care of things, my truck needs me to save money, blah, blah, blah...then "so...when are we getting together?" AUGHHHHHHHH!!! No hint, no clue and you guys wonder about meeting people on line? Real life is hard enough. This place the people at least respond (mostly) appropriately to life and its ups and downs...

if someone can't respect my wishes then they aren't my friend. I would tell them to stop calling

This happened to my mom. She met a guy from work. She was very clear she only wanted to be friends. He couldn't comprehend that and tried to "buy" her. She returned everything to him and said goodbye.

If you're not into someone, and they are only buying you "gifts" to get with you. It's best to return them. JMO

Hummmmm but by the way I did have one like that not long ago. You just need to be honest with him instead and not put him off. To me when one beats around the bush it is more hurtful then if you were just point blank with them.bigsmile

Yes, you're quite right. I had thought that 2 weeks ago, his call took me by surprise and I'm not great at stuff out of practice with.
Am terrible with things like that, hoping things will just 'go away'.

All I have to do is let the "real me" out of the proverbial locked closet-box, and Pestering Dimwits who won't catch even the most unsubtle of "hints" become very quickly scarce.

In a couple of rare instances, I've had to exaggerate my "real" persona a few notches to produce this effect, but it always eventually works.

What most certainly does NOT work is making up excuses, and trying to "let them down easily". That just seems to make it seem more like a game, one which Pestering Dimwits feel even more inclined to "prove themselves" by winning. (As if...)

Yep, at this point it sounds like you are gonna have to be blunt.... and then change your number.

When something like this happens to me, I am not nice at all. I just simply say...take a hint and forget my number. If they keep calling me, I simply do not answer. IF they do not get the hint, then I pick up the phone and say WHAT in a really rude voice and then they just don't know what to say. That's when I really tell them off and let them know that I DO NOT want them to ever call me again....yes it does work. Sometimes we can't be nice, we have to be rude to people who just don't get it!!!

He'll call again. Be clear. "Do not call me again". If he persists, or if suddenly you find your tires slashed or otherwise stalking behavior, let the police help.
