In one of my short stories, I wrote about a guy who got totally obsessed with dating sites, so much so that he kept digging and digging and finding sites that were more and more specialized. The end result he found himself on a site where he was the only member. Ouch.
That got me to thinking about what I would do if I decided to set up my own site. Here's how I would do it: 1.) Profiles would have to be good -- they would have to include actual information about the person, not strings of a dozen cliches. 2.) No shirtless pictures (unless you're Billie Piper). 3.) Members would be graded on spelling and grammar and punctuation. 4.) Everyone would be required to have a llama pic in their profile. (The llama may be shirtless.) 5.) Use of the phrase "I am to be liking your structure" would be grounds for immediate termination. 6.) There would be a separate forum for people to talk about the British TV show "Hustle." 7.) There would be a "Reverse Stealth Mode," where if you thought you were in stealth mode, the site would send messages to all kinds of people, telling them you looked at their profile, even if you didn't. (An enhanced communications concept!) 8.) Members could only contact other members on Tuesdays and Fridays. 9.) If you use a picture of a cat or a dog as your main pic, you actually have to date a cat or a dog. If you use a picture of six people and you never say which one is you, you have to do something else. I haven't figured that part out yet. Has anyone else thought about what they would do with their own site? |

I would put in a bulk 'Nudge' deleter. |

Well, my main requirement would be no losers or embarrassingly desperate people would be allowed to join. And if you lie in your profile, there would be a way to give an electric shock through the keyboard. And the phrase "I like candlelight dinners and long walks on the beach" would immediately be changed to "I'm a cliche, and therefore un-dateable."

No, which is why I no longer have it. Too much competition, and it just wasn't something I was that dedicated to.

Id have to have a company that actually did face to face interviews with the applicants as well as verifying their background details
beyond that, anyone would be accepted who checked out to be truthful in their self description and history... |

Anybody who was not active for a duration longer than a week would be deleted. And by deleted, all information connected to, pertaining to, or referencing them would be deleted. Like they never existed. I hate these sites that keep your info forever and a day.

Okay, fine... A month... A year is way to f'in much. If it's been a year, they forgot the account existed and probably aren't coming back to it at any point anyhow...
