I don't think you can MAKE people want something, but you can make them more likely to want it if it's marketed well. If it appeals to the eye, evokes pleasant feelings and is something they either need or want in their lives for pleasure or useful purposes, then the only reason people won't want it already must be that it's not been presented in a good light. So presentation is key.

Marketing is making people want something for their reasons. Find out what they have a need for, then tell them that what you have will fill that need.

Doesn't that only work if you're making a product after the fact? If you already have a product, it is what it is, and the person has to decide if it's something they need. So, if we're talking about people...we already have a product. The person can't change to suit another and be true to themselves at the same time. Who wants someone who will change themselves to suit others?

just the facts ma'am most respond well to information and when left to make their own decision the desire to control others is a fool's errand. perhaps the OP is really referring to "influence?" Nicely put. We do have to present ourselves for who we are, because people cannot see what's inside us, how we think, how we feel and what we believe in, unless we take the time and make the effort to present ourselves to them. We also want others to present themselves well to us...or we would be more open to, "hey purddy lady" messages. I think it's the fear of falling short under scrutiny that intice those who advertise themselves falsely, to do so. But false advertising will never a true love make.

People have to want something to go after it. Most people can not be made to want anything they are not interested in themself.

But false advertising will never a true love make. indeed I agree many fear falling short but we need to love that about ourselves....that's our internal reality check saying "hey, ya, you're great but you do have a few flaws so turn the EGO down a notch now & then"
