Good riddance, DOMA! DOMA has been struck down as being unconstitutional by the SCOTUS.

Prop 8 has no standing. We now have 13 states plus DC that have legalized marriage equality.

Today is a good day for those who support marriage equality.

So quiet in here! Either gay marriage opponents are so surprised by the outcome yesterday that they were speechless, or they agree it was a good day along with the rest of us.

Nope, just figured the SCOTUS would rule this way as otherwise it was discriminatory.

Good for you for knowing it would be discriminatory to rule another way.

Who is going to police sodomy laws, willing? You? Are you going to go into everyone's bedroom (gay or straight) and make sure they're not engaging in anal sex?

I think most same sex opponents have probably tired of these types of threads and resigned to the reality that those in power are going to go through with endorsing and spreading this culture,,,

I think its excellent news. When I heard it I almost burst out a cheer. I didnt have enough faith in our country to assume it would pass/be overturned. It was a happy surprise.

Yay equality!

Its also a victory for people who support limitting the federal governments power. I think its a state issue and not a federal one.

Oh. I thought the supreme court overturned a state decision. Wasnt that prop 8? Im not so good at following political stuff.

Pretty sure I read that the federal government can't deny them equal treatment under the law if the state allows them to marry. Such as taxes etc. Actually DOMA is a federal law

that's one way of looking at it

, perhaps, more will marry in non state ceremonies, where privileges aren't the focus,,,,

Yes, why should only straight people get to have all the misery...err, i mean joy of marriage...it won't hurt anyone letting us gay men and women marry the person we love. I do believe that it should be done my a JP, UNLESS a religion person, priest, minister or such wishes to perform the ceremony.

My cousin, an ordained minister, will perform my wedding if I ever wish to get married. As if that's gonna happen lol

A rose by any other name is still a rose.

Same sex marriage is a joke, it's no more a marriage then a man wereing a dress is a women.

Sodomy is not sex either. Sex involves the sexual organs i.e. repoductive organs of both genders.

Legalization of same sex marriage is just testament to the American dream world that just cannot deal with reality.

I will never recognize same sex marriage.

of course not, anymore than drunks take cognizance of those who disapprove of their behaviors,,,,

its just a personal statement,, nothing more or less,, we do still have the right to choose our own values to recognize and validate...
