I'm not going to neglect myself and the direction of my own life in order to date...just for the sake of dating.

I've never been one to date just for a good time. I want to have those kind of good times with someone I can see myself being with in a long term commitment...not just so I'll have a date on Valentine's.

I think I have just gotten caught up in my basic daily routine that does not bring that many peer age people into contact. Economically I can not afford a lot of social activities. I see most of my volunteer venues like the work place where I don't mix my "professional" and private life. Being older I have encountered a lot of the expectation to stay single and just be friends. Or friends "with benefits" which I see as unwise.

I haven't been single for very long. However, for a huge part of my 22 year relationship with my ex-husband I felt alone and like a single mom. Now, I've been on my own for just 5 months, and everything about it is hard. I've got a lot of learning about my self to do. Maybe people end up being on their. Own for long periods of time or short periods of time because there is more to learn. I like to believe that there's is someone for everyone. If you haven't found them yet, it. Is because God's is still working on them before they can be presented to you. When the time is right it will happen. In the mean time, the wait is hard!
