They just see someone is on line and if they think they have a shot they email. Sometimes I think they hardly look at the picture. But read the profile maybe one in hundreds.

Kidding aside, when the profile is not completely filled up and the person who messaged me seemed nice, I usually reply and during conversation I try to ask the birthdate and I do check astrology for the zodiac sign then I read the personality or traits. it somehow give me an idea about that person:wink:

I didn't realize until now that Mattel is still making those. I think they should update it with a new answer: "Whatever." laugh

If a woman bothers to write something, I'll read it. For the most part they're either too lazy to at least click on an answer, or the profile is fake to begin with... probably both. There's only a dusting of real profiles (apparently).

OK, I am just looking at the dating pool. My profile is perhaps rather negative, in that I am NOT looking to 'hookup' - just viewing the pool candidates..
The comments of emails I receive, it is pretty obvious to me that my profile is NOT being read at all, as the comments in their emails reference what a nice profile it is, etc... are you kidding me?did you read it???
Or are they just MANREADING it?
Manreading - look at the pictures and carry on anyway..
Hints about scammers would be appreciated..
Kat

Yes, it can be very frustrating. There are a lot of scammers. Advice given to me was set your mail settings to 50 to 60 age and location must be within 50 miles. that should cut down on some of the spammers and scammers. Alas I'm too young and too far from you. You sound like a neat person though. I have decided that Mingle isn't a dating site but it has a great forum. I really enjoy the conversations here. Good luck

I agree completely. It seems that getting a date here is like winning the lottery. There is a better chance of getting struck by lightning. Some of the posts are good and funny. Some are negative and demanding. Many are self serving. I get "friend requests" from 30 year olds from somewhere I ain't even close to or know where it is without going to Google earth. What does a thirty something want with a 72 year old man? From my profile picture you should be able to tell I do not have oodles of bucks.

As for reading the profiles, I always do before sending a message. Sometimes just out of curiosity because they live somewhere that I lived at one time.

I gave up on finding a partner here a long time ago. I check the posts once in a while and respond when I am interested or bored.

I don't know as the chances of getting hit by lightning are better (and that doesn't sound like much of a good time), but think of it this way: "If it was too easy, it wouldn't be any fun." (Yeah, I know; not mcuh help, right?

Something I thought of this morning, after receiving a message from somebody that I'm pretty sure is a scammer: If they message you, but haven't even viewed your profile, it should set off your BS Detector. Another thing was, the time the message was sent was rather "off," so I doubt if the sender lives in the same time zone I do, let alone only about 33 miles away. whoa

But in the interim, I've enjoyed the exchange with everyone on the forum, so it's good for that. glasses

It's kind of discouraging for some people to go on a dating site and see that so many are already in a relationship, or say I am only here for forums, or I just wanted to see what's out there, or have nothing in a profile, etc. Not much of a dating site for some who are really wanting to find someone. I'm losing interest quickly.

I'm giving it a chance, at least. I see a lot of people on here a few days, then leave. I have initiated contact with a lot of people, but not much anymore. I read a lot of profiles.

I only read profile with short discription, not 1 with hundreds of words to discribe what YOU dont want, some are like the small print on a contract,

Well, there's that old saying, "You have to read the fine print."
Sometimes that's where you realize there's not gonna be a match, or you might find exactly what (who) you were looking for.

I got tired of the yes, no, maybe... and the forums are way more interesting than reading profiles.
(of course that will likely lengthen my search but its ok... Time is my friend in matters of the heart. :)

Men don't read directions...why would they read profiles?

I'M KIDDING!!!

not sure what you are talking about with this word , directions : )
Ostensibly refers to mens willingness to forego reading and begin a task that has intruction offered...
