A report of a sheriff deputy being gunned down in Houston Texas gas station is on many news outlets today.

Apparently, a man walked up behind him and cut loose a barrage of gun fire, and continued after the officer was down.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the recent shootout with bikers earlier this year.

This was obviously some sort of vendetta.

Although I'm not a fan of rogue cops, this guy didn't stand a chance, he was pumping his gas when this happened and didn't even see it coming.

Life is becoming more and more devalued in the world.

Damn, I didn't see this, notice his body language, there is an air of determination to kill this cop. Then, he continues to pump more into him, thats definitely a statement.

Tragic

A suspect was taken into custody early Saturday just hours after authorities said he shot and killed a sheriff's deputy pumping gas into his patrol car at a Houston gas station, police said.
The man was apprehended by the Harris County Sheriff's Office at his mother's house before dawn on Saturday not far from the site of the ambush on Friday night, Houston Police Officer John Moore said.

"She called to tell them he was there," Moore said.

"There is a suspect in custody believed to be the shooter," the officer said.

The suspect, whose identity was not immediately released, was being held in the Harris County jail, Moore said.

The deputy was in uniform and filling up his car with gas when the gunman approached from behind and fired several shots, Sheriff's Office spokesman Deputy Thomas Gilliland told reporters.
"The deputy then fell to the ground. The suspect then continued over to him and shot the deputy again multiple times as the deputy laid on the ground," he said.

Live video from the scene in northwest Houston, about 20 miles from downtown, showed police tape across the perimeter of the gas station. Dozens of officers were on the scene.

The deputy, identified on the Sheriff's Office's Twitter feed as Darren Goforth, was described as a 10-year veteran assigned to the west district, Gilliland said.

There was a supposed call out from a group wanting to lynch whites and kill cops. The murder supposedly came days after that

Whoever did it...for whatever reason is a coward....plain and simple. He was shot execution style like cowards do

R.I.P. Deputy Goforth, prayers and condolences to the family and friends. This is unacceptable and inexcusable. Hopefully the RADICAL group behind this is dismantled and imprisoned for conspiring and as accomplices to this murder.

The shooter's "body language", appears to be that of a coward, sneaking up behind distracted prey.

The only possible statement, is that it's expected, for cowards to hide behind their mommy's skirt.
Shocking news there.

"" HOUSTON—Authorities said Saturday a 30-
year-old man has been charged with capital
murder in connection with the fatal
shooting of a sheriff’s deputy who was
gunned down from behind while filling up
his patrol car at a suburban Houston gas
station.
Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman
identified the man as Shannon J. Miles, who
is in police custody.
Mr. Hickman said Mr. Miles had a previous
record, including charges of resisting arrest
and trespassing. Authorities said they are
not sure of the motive.
Deputy Darren Goforth, 47, was pumping
gas about 8:30 p.m. Friday when a man
approached him from behind and fired
multiple shots, continuing to fire after the
deputy had fallen to the ground.
Earlier Saturday, Harris County Sheriff’s
Office spokesman Deputy Thomas Gilliland
said officials were questioning a person of
interest and had a search warrant for a
two-story brick home.
Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman linked
the ambush to tensions across the nation
over the killings of black men by police that
spawned the “Black Lives Matter” protest
movement.
“Our system of justice absolutely requires a
law enforcement presence to protect our
community,” Mr. Hickman said at a news
conference earlier on Saturday. “So at any
point when the rhetoric ramps up to the
point where calculated cold-blooded
assassination of police officers happens, this
rhetoric has gotten out of control.
“We’ve heard Black Lives Matter, All Lives
Matter. Well, cops’ lives matter, too. So
why don’t we drop the qualifier and say
lives matter.”
Mr. Goforth was a 10-year veteran of the
force, had a wife and two children, Mr.
Hickman said. As for a motive, Mr.
Hickman said that until anything is known
with “certainty ... it’s all speculation” but
later suggested that Mr. Goforth was
targeted because he was in law
enforcement.
Harris County District Attorney Devon
Anderson called on what she described as
“the silent majority in this country to
support law enforcement.”
“There are a few bad apples in every
profession. That does not mean there should
be open warfare declared on law
enforcement,” she said.
In a statement Saturday, Gov. Greg Abbott
said “heinous and deliberate crimes against
law enforcement will not be tolerated” and
that the state “reveres the men and women
in law enforcement who put their lives on
the line every day to protect and serve their
communities.”
The deputy had gone to the Chevron gas
station in Cypress, a middle-class to upper
middle-class suburban area of Harris
County that is unincorporated and located
northwest of Houston, after responding to a
routine car accident earlier Friday.
An impromptu memorial sprouted at the
pump he had used Friday night, with a pile
of balloons, flowers, candles and notes,
including one that said, “Gone but never
forgotten R.I.P. Deputy Goforth.” The gas
station was open Saturday, but that pump
was closed.
Brian McCullar knew Mr. Goforth because
the deputy had patrolled his neighborhood,
which is about two miles from the gas
station, and the two spoke often.
“He was passionate about what he did,” the
49-year-old said, adding, “We’re still in
shock. ... It’s a huge loss for his family. It’s
a huge loss for this area.
“You’re talking about a guy that made a
difference,” Mr. McCullar said.""

I encourage everyone, as we see more of these stories unfolding, to pay attention to how often all sorts of people with all sorts of agendas, all leap to proclaim that this has provided more tragic proof that they are right to shout at other people.

We have anti-black racists proclaiming that because the suspect is black, that this proves that they are right in their hatred; we have anti-gun control people proclaiming that this sort of thing proves that we should ALL openly carry guns, and point them at every stranger we see; we have pro-gun-control people who proclaim that this proves that they are right, and that very stringent laws against guns should be enacted; we even have people (including exactly one Presidential candidate) advocating that more be invested in Mental Health.

Please note, I am not pointing my finger at anyone HERE, I think that so far, most of us have been reasonable.

However, I do also think that more intelligent and careful attention needs to be paid than has been, to the whole DYNAMICS of these episodes.

For one thing, many of them are being abetted, or even directly CAUSED to occur, by the people who think they are loudly working to oppose them.

Already mentally ill people, and desperate people, and genuinely downtrodden and socially victimized people are again and again, being pushed to commit horrible acts, not just by the vile wannabe despots of the world, but also by careless proponents of freedom and justice, who eagerly and I would say thoughtlessly, use exaggerated language to express their outrage over other unjust situations.

In short, some of these kinds of things are happening because of HOW many people are going about opposing them.

I am sure everyone feels much better about themselves after reading this.

Already mentally ill people, and desperate people, and genuinely downtrodden and socially victimized people are again and again, being pushed to commit horrible acts

Elaborate for a change.. Sweeping generalized statements without fact are meaningless.

We have anti-black racists proclaiming that because the suspect is black, that this proves that they are right in their hatred; we have anti-gun control people proclaiming that this sort of thing proves that we should ALL openly carry guns, and point them at every stranger we see; we have pro-gun-control people who proclaim that this proves that they are right, and that very stringent laws against guns should be enacted

This is your interpretation. Show some evidence by posting links to validate these claims.

However, I do also think that more intelligent and careful attention needs to be paid than has been, to the whole DYNAMICS of these episodes.

What are these special dynamics that we are all missing?

Enlighten us..

I haven't seen any evidence that this deputy was a rogue cop. He was just an average Joe gunned down from behind. I really don't care what the guy's motives were. He kill someone like a coward. I don't care if he was white, black or green with purple polka dots.
